He's a Texas City boy.

Deggs wrote a book, “15 to 28,” that unravels his entire story when he was an alcoholic. When Robe hired him as the hitting coach in 2012, he had been trying to make ends meet by loading packs of animal feed onto 18 wheelers. It is a true story of redemption.

I was doing my internship in Lafayette with a bunch of UL alumni and boosters when Robe passed. Deggs was the first and only guy they called for the job.
He was the hitting coach in 2014 when UL was ranked #1 in the nation during the regular season. Left to be head coach at Sam Houston and did well there. UL got him back as head coach after Robe passed away..

Robe was a really good dude and not surprised he gave Deggs a chance.
Good on Deggs to make it work.
Hard to root against these dudes.

Still hard to believe Robichaux is gone.

Hard to believe it’s been 5 years too

I just remember people saying that Robichaud kinda had some signs that he may be having trouble with his heart and didn’t give it the attention it needed.
Really tough to think that he could likely still be with us.

Maybe, but you guys try to convince yourself of this with every successful coach you have. If he has sustained success and an SEC school comes calling, he's gone.

If he leaves, fine. Robe was a one-in-a-million type coach for us who stayed when he could’ve taken jobs anywhere else. You don’t find many of those anymore.

First off, I’m an LSU fan, not a UL fan. I just know Deggs and his family.
Second, he pretty much said that in the interview during the Vandy game. This job is personal for him and his family.
