Also, I swing by my sports marketing prof's office this week see what he knows, he may know what's up with the contract (how you like that I'm actually reporting
)

so to bitch and moan about Time Outs Left being omitted, and complaining that the board is basically an ad board and not a score board makes us less of a fan?
Less a fan...of course not. Bitching about the lack of info GOT IT CHANGED for game two...or didn't you notice? that was clearly an oversight by whoever laid out the screen...more than likely someone who deosn't even follow football! that stat line was changed for game 2. Bitching about the ads is just...well, pointless.

I was at the Vandy game and there was no TOL info.
See above. That was fixed for game 2.

The new board is a HUGE improvement over the old ones. I sit in the SEZ and can see it from across the stadium.
THere were complaints (justified) after the 1st home game (font size and time ouots not being displayed) which were addressed for the 2nd game. Having the whole screen be digital allows for this flexibility.
If you want other changes, keep the constructive criticism coming, it may achieve something. I do believe any further changes will be few, small. The square "Tigerreplay by COX" ad in the replay screen needs to go. Maybe it could be rectagular shaped and scrolled across the bottom or something, if it cannot be gone altogether.

My biggest beef is that where the Cox, Chevy and whatever other ads they have up there on the sideboards, they don't throw an occasional stat or two up there.

Right, like you couldn't think of a better way for LSU to spend $7 million.
Right...because the ad revenue generated by it won't pay for it and then somoe in short order. good grief... You have no clue what you;re tlaking about...as you clearly have no idea just how much money those advertisers pour into the LSU coffers each year. Trust me...you'd like them to keep doing that.

You're high. It's precisely because I DON'T want that to happen that I support signage like this. Revenue is going to have to come from somewhere. Until you find us our own T. Boone Pickens, or Waltons from Arkansas, or double and triple the cost of tickets, we need to sell ads to stay competitive.
Having a brand new HD screen that uses a portion of it to sell ad space is a small price to pay.

Why does a static two color coke ad have to be in HD video, though? Why not just put a permanent lighted sign, the same size, next to the scoreboard?
Because it looks like shite? Hell if I know. First, question A would need to be answered, then we can move on to yours

Why not put JUST the replay up (immediately after the big plays) and run the ad-heavy stuff for the more routine ones?

And that I understand, but looking at the way LSU has handled their sponsors and the prominent placing they've gotten thus far, I think it's a safe assumption that best case scenario is a year or two from now LSU's screen is 3 parts video to 2 parts ad. It's just what LSU does and its what the advertisers love, they are getting their ads scene by 92K per week (give sometimes and take more times) big not just flashes.

This I agree with. There's always room for improvement. But blanketly saying the sign sucks is counterproductive to getting want you want.

Nobody's really doing just this.

This is the ONE thing Auburn does better than us. I love how they have live stats on the screen.

this...
If it was full screen wide open ads while the play was going on then they took 10 seconds after each play to show a FULL SCREEN REPLAY (which they have the capability to do) then put the full screen ads up, I would be 100% satisfied.

The first thread about the scoreboard from game one was precisely that.
New scoreboard...it sucks.

What people are saying is that the use of the scoreboard sucks.
And to say that the ads on this scoreboard will make or break LSU's budget is ridiculous.

Yes and the first post in the thread he linked actually gave constructive reasons to back up the point -- Not just a "blanket statement".
