shepard a combination of tebow's leadership and harvin's talent??
Shepard might be one of the most marketable LSU football players ever...LSU will get a ton of exposure because of him if he lives up to the hype.

It got old 25 years ago, long before "The Office." Michael Scott somehow made the revival work. But yeah, it's probably only funny in Germany now.

Goodness, this place is rubbing off on me.

Carl, you should counsel Spencer on the use of the word "literally".

Random, I know, but that's me.

Love the article.

These are the cliffs notes for people not wanting to read the entire post:

The maturity level of some of these posters...

Thanks Carl, good read, it is nice to get a view of the Tigers from seasoned professionals who are removed from Baton Rouge. I rewatched the Washington game last night and I agree that it looks a lot better the 2nd time around. Wash was pretty well contained the 2nd half and that last LSU drive after the Wash FG showed that Jefferson is mature beyond his years. For all the panic, Wash was held to one TD and 3 FG's, the last one was a gimme.

I agree that LM should hold RS back for his own good, and keep the cat in the bag as long as you can.

Don't forget that they fumbled on the 3 or 4 yard line, and had a INT returned for a TD. Those were huge plays that, if they don't happen, change the complexion of the game. I know that was an IF but it still bears mentioning...

Yeah...But we lost a fumble in the red zone and also had penalties prevent us from getting a touchdown as well....Kind of evens out.

ummm, there turnovers cost them 14-16 points. our turnover cost us 3-8 points. would have changed the entire complexion of the game.

False start on the goal line probably cost us 4......Then after we were on the 18 for CS fumble driving the ball nicely....If we score thats 11 points.

Thanks for the recap. I haven't swapped emails with you since you left the Advocate. See you've got a blog on the LC American Press. Hope all is well.

As the certified #1 LSU fan for Flower Mound, TX, let me say, "THANK YOU!!" for sharing what I would never get an opportunity to read if not for you taking the time to write and for Chicken giving us all the ability to share the experience with you.

Very interesting. They all seem to think very highly of LSU unlike most 'fans' on here.

Another great article, Carl. Keep 'em coming! I'm looking forward to the one tomorrow as well.

Chicken, Dubois' contributions here are one of the best features of TD.com. You're doing a great job with this site. Now, if you can just keep the idiots at bay and have more of this kind of dialogue, football season will be that much more enjoyable!

Danielson said it's hard to say this about coaches, but he thought Miles "lost his team" last year by sticking too long with Jarrett Lee at quarterback

I respect his opinion but disagree with Gary Danielson on this point. Hatch and Lee were both nicked up during the season. Jefferson was a true freshman and as such hadn’t had a lot of time to get acclimated to the system and to college play. I just don’t think the coaches thought he was ready. They may have been hesitant to throw him into a situation he wasn’t ready for. They got to see him every day in practice. If he had been clearly better than the other two we would have seen him play more.
JJ and JL will both be better this year than last, but I don’t know if it will be incrementally enough improvement to get us to the SEC championship game.
