I can remember not long ago when TS was really something. Now the fan base act like tulame!

Knee jerk reaction. Wet game, no rivalry with Vandy. Look how many fans went to Washington.
Wait for Fl, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss. The magic is just momentarily subdued. The good stuff is just weeks away.
Time to start getting crazy Tiger fans. Saturday night in Tiger Stadium is still Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, no other place like it.

Tack u hit it right on the head. I had season tickets for years. We never left even if we were losing.

Sadly, I think that Alex Box has become more intimidating than TS.

do you think something has to do with the type of football LSU plays now?
No, I don't. We are STILL winning football games and nabbing top-5 recruiting classes. Sabear's teams were notorious for not putting teams away (see Vandy game 2004). In fact, when Sabear was here, people were bashing him and also Jimbo for not having better play-calling, so that throws that philosophy out.

TV announcers ALWAYS talk about the rabid fan base and the Tiger Stadium intimidation factor, and then pan the empty seats during the game and seem surprised. I'm not, the spirit is dead if you can only cheer at a big game. The loudest cheer in 2007 was at the Fla game, but not for the Tigers, but for an announcement of the USC score. I'm sad.

Look, just do what y'all do okay? Sit in the upper deck, paint your face, drink your cheap liquor and yell like a heathen. I'll keep donating the money that funds the academic center, weight room, and other top notch facilities that attract the 18 yr. olds y'all get hard about. We all have our role.....

people show up late, ask me to sit down so they can see
I've never understood this. I don't stand up for the whole game, but pretty much everyone stands up in key situations or big plays. I've had people ask me to sit down at Saints games. I just look at them like they are stupid, because I guess they pretty much are. Seriously, if you are asking someone to sit down at a football game (unless it's the jackass jumping up and down and doing the wave for all 60 minutes) then you should really be attending another event.

ive been a season ticket holder since 2000 and went to many games before having tix. dont think its a diff. type of fan these days ,i think tiger fans are spoiled.(and i agree with the comment about the coaches in the stands).but i thought last night the fans could have been louder, but over all i thought the crowd was good.

I really think Tiger Stadium is now living on some lore that is no longer there
I agree. However it is still pretty loud for the big games. The Florida game will be intense but I wouldn't expect much from the other home games this year.

sorry Golden Age was the 2000-2007 years, not the 90's
1995-2003.
With the exception of a few games in 2007.
We had some CRAZY games in the mid-late 90's with a stadium only 80% full.

TS has become average from a fan, appearance, and capacity standpoint. I was watching the OSU/USC game last night and OSU's stadium is awesome. Nice structure, very clean and fan base similar to any big time game in TS. Look at Florida, Bama, Texas, Tennessee, Penn State, Georgia, etc....all of these have what TS has and then some. Until we can fix the outside of TS...broken windows, abandoned dorm rooms, bath rooms, etc, TS will remain average.
TS will get exposed to the nation with ESPNU picking up all these small games. Fans will peel out at half leaving 60k on nation TV.

Oh, BTW:
When Brad Budde said: "This place makes Notre Dame Stadium look like Romper Room" ...
That was a LONG time before Nick Saban ever got here.
at Johnny-Come-Latelies or people with NO sense of history that think the Tiger Stadium Mystique started with Nick Saban.

I would agree. It has become a social atmosphere type of event.
People's lack of perspective and hyperbole is truly staggering.
Pray tell, when was going to Tiger Stadium NOT pretty much just a "social type of event" for a huge number of the folks there?

When a team runs a hurry up offense it makes it very difficult for the fans to generate crowd noise consistently over the course of the game. Tiger Stadium will roar to life when the time is right!

So let me get this straight?
Tiger Stadium is STILL intemidating if:
1. LSU is playing a team ranked better or the same.
2. LSU is winning by a lot.
3. Nothing negative happens.
4. It is not raining.
5. It is not cold.
6. It is not during the day.
7. It is not during hunting season.
8. LSU still has a chance to win the SEC.
Does that cover it?

This is the answer. Let LSU be an underdog in TS and the place will really come alive.

quote:Maybe...and it could be a dislike of Miles that is causing it...and I do believe the high cost of tickets has squeezed out the more diehard fan...
Playing devils advocate do you think something has to do with the type of football LSU plays now?
But I believe Shepard is potentially the most exciting player to ever play LSU Football...he could inject some much needed energy into the fanbase. The curiousity factor will be high with him.
