re: Time to move on from Matt, regardless of the cost to fire him

What’s point of firing him during season? Wait until final game is over. That doesn’t mean Verge etc can’t have someone in waiting/deal done. It just creates less turmoil if lsu waits to fire him; it’s not like Hurley gonna leave mid season UConn for open lsu job.

I mean it’s not like football where you have to get a someone very quickly but you could argue it would help with recruiting and mapping next years roster.

But you would want to go after and hire a coach that most likely will be playing in march so the recruiting/portal chaos would ensue either way. A new coach, or coach lsu fans want, wouldn’t be announced until after they lost in march.

You’re absolutely right but once he’s gone you’re free to get the ball rolling, especially roster wise, so you have as much work done before your next coach is ready to be announced.

It is SO easy to spend other people’s money.

Damn, I knew it was bad, but seeing the numbers like that really puts it in to context.
It should be noted, that the stats you're seeing for this year are with a $9-10 million roster. Baldy said 9 mil the other day on locked on LSU, but I've also heard 10 mil. Regardless, they spent all that money on a team for a coach that was historically bad even before this year started, which is kind of wild to me.
This roster is good enough to make the tourney, and good enough to win at least one game in it, but possibly 2. However, the coach it has is one of the worst I've ever seen. Simply atrocious at his job. It's wild to me Woodward saw how this guy coaches and thought the fix would be to throw more money at the problem. Quite possibly one of the most stupid financial decisions in Woodward's time here, in which there were a few.

Donor fatigue is real after getting rid of CBK and staff, getting Lane and staff, and paying for a roster
Verge alluded to this on Scone's show on Friday.
the nerds just need to accept that MBB is going to suck for a bit longer.

Billionaires don’t have donor fatigue; there’s no donor fatigue or anonymity or lack of wanting spotlight buying thousands of Jell-O shots.
Graves and Spaht etc don’t get tired of showing their shite. Hell Dudley and Gordon billboard budgets dwarf MM buyout

Curley Hallman famously said it "would take five years to become a winner" with this team-- but Hallman wasn't still around to see that team win in his "fifth year".
We need to keep McMahon ONE MOAR YEAR-- I think with the right amount of money, of patience, of talent these Tigers can win big. And fewer nattering nabobs of negativity populating social media, please.

Hallman didn’t coach in the portal era and he also didn’t coach basketball. It doesn’t take 3 years to win, much less 5.

Basketball success isn't a linear progression, by any means. Look at Lamont Paris at SC-- terrible his first year, yet in the second season he finished 13-5 in the SEC, good for second place. Now they suck again, but they'll turn it around. Same situation with Dennis Gates at Missouri -- 0-18 two years ago after one respectable season, but now his teams are competitive, even better than average. You don't necessarily build an empire overnight. Sometimes patience and hard work are needed to succeed. Amassing talent and avoiding disruptive injuries are the right drugs for basketball coaches.

Ya know who doesn't operate like Gates and Paris???
Will MOTHERFLUCKING Wade.
McMahon has shown ZERO signs of life or hope. Nothing but excuses. Your record is what it is, PERIOD!!!!!

UNO just beat SFA on the road to claim 3rd in the Southland. SFA was 18-1. Second longest win streak in America. 13.5 point dogs. Now that's a coach.
