re: Did Skip Bertman ever have a down year like this season?

Rice won two games
You betcha. They creamed LSU in Alex Box; the second game LSU was the home team and lost 16-9

and advanced to Omaha
No, sir. Rice was the #3 seed in the six-team Baton Rouge Regional (there were eight host sites back then, with six teams each). Rice lost to #1 seed Cal State Fullerton, who advanced to Omaha. LSU was the #2 seed.

Knice!
Now if he's the only recruit we end up getting, can we just schedule one-on-one basketball games with the other 15 SEC teams?

re: Shreveport police investigating mass shooting in Cedar Grove with multiple fatalities

That view of Cedar Grove looks a lot better than when I visited my cousins there in the early 1960's. Nothing but tar and macadam streets back then
This is shocking, even for Shreveport. I spent the first seventeen years of my life there and there was rampant crime but never anything comparable to this
LSU baseball has become a victim of its own success. That being said, we're still pretty good most years
1988 is the only one I remember.
I remember there was a year back in his earlier reign his team went a-portalin" at a dizzying pace, with Mays, Days and about 3 more luminaries jumping ship. Before the next season's practices began, most were back on the team.
I nearly died from salmonella contracted at Cracker Barrel I-45 north in Houston, December 7, 2001 ~ 7 pm. Intractable diarrhea for 8 hours with fever, pain and some vomiting started up about 1 am. Barely conscious during the LSU-Tennessee SEC championship game. Extremely ill periodically til after Christmas, with diarrhea and foul gas; it went chronic with the same symptoms off and on till late September 2002, at which time natural immunity finally restored normalcy.
re: At 23-18, odds we finish <500 this year?

1-2 @ MSU
2-1 v SC
0-3 @ UGA
1-2 v UF
2-1 midweek
2-2 SEC tourney
8-11 remainder of the season, 31-29 overall. Even under my "sunshine pumping" mein, this is still many points worse than the worst season of Smoke, that fella this board likes to vilify.

Potentially norovirus (the infamous "stomach flu" which sometimes takes over cruise ships) or a severe bacterial infection like Salmonella or enterotoxic E. coli varieties can result in low-grade fevers, the "cold sweats" and syncope

Timely hitting is but one glaring deficiency of this team. The horrendous play in the field has proved to be even more costly

worst team since Smoke era
Smoke Laval's big sin came wholly as a result of following a living legend in Skip Bertman. And his overall record in five seasons would have been regarded as one of much success at most schools-- NCAA superregional, CWS, CWS, NCAA regional, did not make an NCAA regional with a 35-24 record (14-18 SEC). That last season was his worst as the Tiger boss and yet still is much better a season than our current trajectory seems to point to.

Salmonella is much worse than rampant runs. If not eliminated promptly with the appropriate antibiotics it can go chronic and set up a suitable environment in the colon for overproliferation of H2S-producing bacteria, which have been linked to IBD and potentially colorectal cancer. Too much H2S can disintegrate the bowel mucosa, setting up the perfect environment for these diseases.

LSU has had success in baseball during the NIL era, as well as before. We can find the funds to build a team that can compete with anyone in the SEC

lack of administration support
Wrong. LSU is the most successful college baseball program in America over the last forty years; it didn't get that way without administrative support
He came up short in the portal this present season and the results are showing up in big fashion.

We'll be back. Just ran into a red hot Aggie team that has enough talent to win the CWS. But since they're Aggies, they won't

Tiger baseball... is a Timex watch. It takes a licking... but it keeps on ticking

Couple of loud outs that inning. We just need to keep dem Ags off the basepaths, and then make our epic Sunday rally
Sheeran is a work of art when he's on. Let's geaux!
It's still early. This team can rally
