who calls a hail mary short of the endzone without having the kicking team ready?

Unacceptable.

and a lot of others here see it otherwise. Not the majority, but many for sure.

So what if he is a reporter. Does it make his eyes better? Do reporters not want ratings?

IMO, Miles thought there was going to be 2 or 3 seconds on the clock (i thought he was down with 3 seconds) and made the signal to spike it then realized there was only one second and tried to call the FG team out (too late at that point).

There should have been at least 2 seconds on the clock if we are using the same rules that apply to the Notre Dame vs USC game. I was begging for a replay or something before the last play.

In the end, you really can't defend the poor coaching decisions in the 4th quarter, even if Miles got caught up in the moment.

We all know the answer to that.

Whether his motions were to spike or not, he fu**ed up big time.

the point of a hail mary is to throw it in the endzone, thus not needing the FG unit. Miles didn't anticipate JJ not making it to the endzone. the 17 seconds running off the clock is the biggest issue imo. And the 2 pass plays before that.

I'm telling you he is the head guy with a lot the line in airing this story...and not only him but a reporter from WAFB saw it and the crew from CST saw it...that makes three different stations that are reporting it, and just wait till this hits the big sports media

A lot? Like who?

I at you, and the frog in your pocket. You two are the only ones who have seen the video and don't recognize that unmistakable arm motion as a spike call.

I think this is pretty much a given, the main issue is Les lied about making the signal

In his mind, he did not signal for a spike, but for something else. So I do not see him as lying. I called him one until I saw the video though.

Ahh my bad...I didn't read the whole thread. I guess what I'm getting at is he may have been caught up in the moment and not realized what he was doing so he is rationalizing the lie in his head. Kind of like when you kick a dog that is driving you crazy but you really didn't plan on it so you lie about it. I dunno, Miles may be a bad coach but he doesn't come across as someone who would tell a bold face lie intentionally when he knows the game is on TV.

I agree. I think Miles needs to be gone as much as the collective rant. But i agree with you.

He fu&*ed up and tried to lie about. Plain and simple!! It is what it is. He realized that he blew it and tried to cover his own A$$. In the post game interview with Jordy he threw Crowton under the bus and in the video he throws JJ under the bus. the only difference is that Crowton should be thrown.

This may or may not be the case but I know one thing...you sure as hell don't know and nobody on this board knows for sure. Nobody knows but Miles and maybe the coaches on the headset. Don't act like JJ doesn't deserve some blame for his poor on the field management and sub-par play that didn't help the situation. The same could be said for most of the players but damn JJ, when are you going to grow. Qbs with alot less talent and worse coaches have grown more.

Like I said, less talented players with worse coaches have developed and grown. I mean high school qbs with coaches that can't add 2+2 understand basic clock management, not the throw off your back foot, know when to throw the ball away, and know that the ball needs to be snapped BEFORE the play clock runs out. Heck some of them even know how to make their own audibles. These are all common football sense things, especially for a college player.
