I think in general some baseball players are cocky...this coming from an ex-baseball player... i concede that fact...but although he has a right to be every time i've talked to him Mahtook is not one of them...a stand up guy full of class in my book...congrats on the great night

Mahtook should be a HUGE fan favorite.. He respects the university.. he knows all about the rich baseball tradition at LSU.. He's got all the tools.. size, speed, power. He plays with high emotion. Excellent teammate.

Is there a hotter hitter anywhere in college baseball right now?

Josh I read the same posting and from my experience with Mahtook and Dean at sec championship games that is far from wth I saw.Everytime one of my sons asked for autograph they would both stop on their walk thru and sign what my boys had while chatting with them the whole time.Dean came back to play and that was great for LSU.Mahtook could of went straight to big league but always wanted to be a tiger.I think kids can get a feel for players pretty quick and just from my 8 year old son chatting with both these players a few times he wanted to play in outfield and Mikey a few balls
True I need him in infield but letting him play where his heart is.

From what I seen of him he is far from cocky...I think the whole team is that way...Last Saturday after the game Ott was jogging from the bull pen and my son called him and he stopped in his tracks looked at my son and said whats up buddy...He came signed all three of thier balls and took pics with all of them...The whole team is a class act...

If you play baseball you need to be cocky. Confidence is extremely important when going up to bat/making a play in the field.
Congrats to Mikie

mandyr so glad to hear that bout ott and whole team.I totally agree with bayou that confidence is needed but I believe that arrogance is when you get to thinking you are better than the program itself and never want to see that happen.

Both of my boys play ball...One pitches and plays second and the other is a catcher...They each have their own ball with the whole team autographs on it...They also have pics with everyone on the team...The players have all been nothing but great where I myself would have done had a fit with everything that goes on around them...They are confident and classy
