False. Lee throws to places he should KNOW are extremely risky if he properly processes his pre and post snap reads. I have never seen any QB make so many ill advised flat throws as Lee did in 2008. He earned those pick-6's plain and simple. A fluke pick-6 is when you throw it 30-40 yards downfield.
And based on what we saw in the Spring and heard about in the Fall scrimmages, he is still throwing in the flat into crowded situations when he shouldn't.
(Personally, I wouldn't mind giving him some shots as the season goes along. But he is a bigger risk than JJ, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise just because he is the greener patch of grass.)

I don't want either one and that is probably the only time in the last 20 years that I didn't think there was a QB on the roster that could be good.
JJ made some better decisions and doesn't make mistakes. But he throws for 150 yards in his good games when he has NFL talent at the wide receiver position. You can't win championships with 150 passing yards a game and I can't really see JJ leading an 80 yard drive at the end of the game on all passes.
But he is better than Lee. Our defense is good enough and our offensive is talented enough that JJ's lack of mistakes keep us in almost any game. Lee's int's take us out. Lee lost his shot with that freshmen year and if he wants it back he has to star given the opportunity. Down 6 against Bama he would have had the job. 300 +yards against Tech he would have had it.
If LSU is losing big late in the 3rd quarter I am all for giving Lee a shot to be a hero. But I am not willing to see if he is going to ruin a usually solid defense with a pick 6.

Someone who does not want to give him a shot please come forward and state why?
I don't really think we are in a position to give up a series or two a game to experiment with JL to see if he is playing much better than he has in the past. The coaches see him everyday and they dont think so. Maybe if and when we have a big lead. Obviously we were never in that position against North Carolina. JJ had a pretty solid game saturday night. Why mess with it?

The funny thing is that they are both in a system that doesn't have a leader!

just think that JL should be given some meaningful snaps vs vandy to see if he has a more positive effect on our offense.
Would you really want to do this with the out come of the game still in question?

If we cant get a nice lead on vandy its past time for a QB change

if the outcome is in question against Vandy, absolutely

I'm talking about before (or if) we have put Vandy away

there is no reason we shouldnt put vandy away
absolutely no reason
absolutely no reason

these are like the same stupid threads that were going around before the Louisiana Tech game last season. What is really dumb about it is that Jefferson just put in a pretty solid performance.

yes, i agree with that, but you can say that about a lot of games, for instance last saturday night.

If it was the second quarter, and JJ's been ineffective...sure. I wouldn't put him in in the fourth quarter, needing 80 yards to score go ahead points for his first series though.

yeah with one sustained drive and one completed pass that in the air went more than 8 yards

What if Ridley fumbles twice again and the defense gives up another 400 yards passing?
How would that be Jeffersons fault?
Posted on 9/6/10 at 9:55 pm to cepheid
NO THANKS we've been down this road. I don't understand why some of you are forgetting his games SMH

thats exactly my point, we couldnt pass against UNC even though they were missing their entire secondary

if he isnt putting up good passing numbers
are we gonna start playing the if game?
if JJ throws three picks to start the game would you put lee in?

i am all for the best quaterback to play, but after LA tech, don't know if I can trust lee
+1
And I say that as a huge Lee fan.
One of the main reasons for the "poor" performance in that game was because multiple times they didn't do what was strategically best in order to give Lee every opportunity to show off his passing skills.
Although on the flip side, I hear he has made serious strides in the offseason.
Give him a try by all means.
Not like it matters. If he ever lights it up on a series and scores an epic passing TD, Les will immediately pull him out and not let him see another snap for the game. Even if we are losing with JJ.
