pathetic.......pp7 has not had a good game in quite some time. he whiffed on several tackles like everyone on the team. newton sure did drag him in and the only reason he fumbled is b/c his elbow hit the ground.
clearly, newton was the best player in that game. to argue against that is ridiculous.

he didnt fall, he was slammed

if Peterson was dragged how did he slam Cam so hard that Cam fumbled.
First of all, Newton did not fumble. He crossed the end zone, so the play was over and there is the other fact that neither college nor the pros consider that the ground can cause a fumble. Let's just leave it at this - Newton scored on a 49-yard run where Petersen grabbed him at the 7 yard line. OK?

peterson didnt grab him till the 5. He tried at the 7.
Yes he did fumble, he was already down but a fumble none the less

I'm tired of defending Peterson like he is Michael Jordan. The truth on this play is that Peterson was jogging (while watching)on his side of the field, assuming that the other guys would get Cam. Once Cam got past the linebackers, PP turned it on and didn't catch him until the 5 yd line or so. Watch the whole play. They showed it last night on ESPN and you will see PP in the background watching while jogging.
The truth about PP is that he gives up his contain on run support at least once per game, usually costing us a big run play. I get tired of the ranters calling out our players, but somehow he is exemptwhen he makes bad mistakes.
The truth is also that he is our best player and I hope he has a huge last 5 games as a Tiger and has a great career in the NFL.

Then it wasn't a fumble.

wasnt an official fumble, but a fumble is when you lose the ball.
Ever heard the term "ground caused the fumble" not going to be ruled a fumble because he was down but the runner still fumbled

he was already in the endzone, so the play was over.....Therefore not a fumble

did you not read my last post

No. I have heard the phrase that the ground cannot cause a fumble.
If the player is down, the ball is no longer in play.
It's not considered an "unofficial fumble" because the ball is dead.

ok well since you want to be so technical what cause Cam to lose the football, the body slam. He didnt just fall down and lose it

You may be confused with the 'fumble' when he tossed the ball to the ref after the touchdown.

It wasn't a fumble, but PP wasn't dragged. The momentum carried both of them across the line.

You mean when he tossed it to the ref causing two Auburn players to jump on the ball?

Nice smack talk not even about the play we're talking about.

His forward momentum crashing into the ground.
PP had no leverage to "body slam" him because his feet were being dragged across the field.

Their momentum carried them in but I think its pretty hilarious that you're trying to find a redeeming quality to that play of all the plays in the game. Its continuously on ESPN as the Cliff Notes for what he did the entire game. Beat Bama!
