You are arrogant because you think YOUR way is the only way. QUIT TELLING PEOPLE WHAT THEY SHOULD OR NOT DO.

I have been a season ticket holder since before you were born even though I only get to go about every few years.
I have to close my company in order to go to the game....a loss of $.
I drive 1000 round trip.
I spend $100 of gas
I spend $200 in hotel.

# 1, if I wanted to leave early is my right.
but MORE important...

DOING ALL OF THAT TO GO TO A GAME DOES NOT MAKE ME A BETTER FAN THAN ANYONE ELSE LIKE STAYING DOES NOT MAKE YOU ONE EITHER.

For one game I don't think it Necc. makes you better...

quote:

if you always stay, you're a better fan of those who always leave early

Now this i agree with, well at least a more dedicated fan maybe, not "better"... If you always leave games early when the team doesn't play up to your expectations then you're probably a bandwagon fan...

RB, if you go stay. If it's too much don't go. I'm not telling you to stay but I know it makes us look bad and I'm not sure there's a better way to show you're a fan then to stick it out when the going gets tough.

Since you say you're older then you know the saying, "when to going get's tough, the real fans leave and bitch".

Seriously, what's your point? You said staying doesn't show I'm a better fan and I say it does. What else could it show? I'm not talking about one game. I'm happy you go to great lengths and expense to get there, so freaking stay and get your money's worth.

Here's a great example, I had Saints season tickets since 2000. I just got fed up with the whole deal. I never left early but I didn't think it was worth it to listen to idots curse the team and the expense to go. SO, I just stopped going. Am I a fan? sure but I'm not going to get all upset if the guy going to the game says he's a better fan. If there was a reason I wanted to go but couldn't then I'd argue.

<--------- Was in Bama's stadium when LSU spanked them in 1997 or 1998, and 2003.

Went to Bama homegames while in law school there for 3 years.

Those people haul arse to beat traffic, and when its not going well, too.

The self-loathing on here is a little ridiculous.

I didn't think that 90,000 folks would show up to watch the Troy game. Florida, Georgia, Bama, even Old Piss are draws to TS. But...Troy?

yeah it was cold and windy, and yes i even wanted to throw the radio (I would have loved to been there, but I had family stuff all day) How can 40,000 of ouf FANS leave?? Even espn said LSU fans have been known to tuck tail and run. Thats hurts. I hope we will remember this the next time things looks bad. We only do this 6 or 7 times a year folks!!

Sorry...Your view of "what makes a better fan" is very narrow and self-serving.

I left the Georgia game with 1:15 left on the score board, am I not a fan now? I will also say our seats were in the Georgia section and I was getting heckled like crazy! I didn't want my husband to have to fight someone, so we left just before the end. I also probably spend a small fortune on gear each year, does that help save my fan-ness?

I USUALLY never leave early for a game but I have to say (hanging my head in shame) that I did leave this one early. I have a really good excuse though.......my mom, a four year old and a twelve year old. I told my mom after the game if she can't handle the cold better then that then she can't fo with me to a game. Told the 4 year old he won't go to another until he's 10. told the 12 year old if he goes again and its cold i don't care if he literally freezes I will thaw him out when we get home.

This was a game where lots of people brought their kids, some very little kids (like me). So really i think the kids, mixed with the cold, mixed with the score pushed those people out of the stadium. But i can promise you this I will NEVER leave another game early no matter what!!!!!

I personally don't blame you for leaving.Kids plus cold, yeah, I understand. Those that left before the 4th quarter really missed the show.

Let's face it, Troy was beating our Tiger tails, who would have known we were going to come back like that. Thank goodness Trpy didn't have the depth on the bench, or there wouldn't have been such a rally.

My thing is, the entire country saw the stadium clear out on gameday final and it makes us look like asses, which in turn EFFECTS RECRUITING . You guys can whine about the weather all you want, but I wonder how many Ohio State fans or Penn State fans that have sat through 30 degree weather to watch their team no matter what happens. They do this on a regular basis and would laugh their asses off if they heard ya'll moaning about the only game this year you have had to sit through in cold weather. Elite fans help to create an elite program. Hate to bring up old Sh1t, but that was one thing Saban always stressed and I think it helped us become what we are today.

Trust me...what was being done on the field, or not being done on the field has a lot more effect than the stands....

I see your point, but this has been a regular occurrence all season and it is getting worse and worse. It's like if we are up by a more than 2 touchdowns or down by more than 2 touchdowns people disappear like its the plague.

No christmas presents for you from mom..

I agree with this... the lady next to me had four younger kids with her... she left real early...

be careful saying that... what happens if the kids, or mom gets into a bad accident and are sent to the hospital??? do you leave then? Or do you just tell them "If you get in an accident while i'm at the game, I'll see you after the game is over."

I understand your frustration, but take it from someone older who has taught marketing for 14 yrs.

....winning cures all.

It is a shame that people leave early, but a lot of them do it out of frustration.

Think of it as a movie...
if it is a good movie, people will stay, if it is not they will leave.

You may make yourself angry over something that only the performance on the field can control.

I live in Dallas, where they claim to be Sports Fans...they are not...In Dallas they will support winning, but not the teams.

If you want to call some of them fair-weather fans, I am with you, but judging yourself as better than someone without really knowing their reason is not the way to live life.

Neither Ohio State nor Penn State has ever trailed a Sun Belt team by 28 points late in the 3rd quarter. They have never been put to that test, so you cannot compare to them.

The only valid comparisons are to other BCS league schools who were trailing a Sun Belt (or equivalent) team by four touchdowns late in the 3rd quarter. Find all of those, and compare what THEIR fans did to what LSU fans did, and then you might have some semblance of a point.

Yeah, because LSU never had fans before Saban got here.
