A top 3 defense is plausible. You've got two potential AAs as your team leaders. That's huge.

A National Top 3 Defense and JJ's dink and dunk passing game (no true vertical threat) can win LSU 10 games.
Yes. Absolutely. We almost won 10 games last year without a Top 3 defense.

Watching the spring game, it's going to be rough in the SEC if we can't stop the run. Not sure where you see a top 3 national defense. If they are that good, then absolutely LSU will win 10 games.

A top 3 defense? How do you go about gauging a top 3 defense? What stats?

its a hypothetical in which I subsequently qualified as "plausible". It's no more unrealistic as it is realistic, imo.

and I figured it would grab your attention more than "Top 10"

I understand. I just want to know how you gauge a top 3 defense.

I could only dream! I would be on cloud 9 if we had a defense this good!

Also add at +1 turnover margin per game!

Big Fales, the Defense wont get off the field on 3rd downs and the Offense will probably still have trouble making first downs.

Total defense tallies the yards allowed per game.

Scoring defense tallies points allowed per game.

So, I think scoring defense is the ultimate category to go by.

This past year, we put up 24 points/game on offense and allowed 16 points/game on defense.

We want to get at least 30 points/game on offense and down to allowing about 13 points/game on defense.

And we want to do way better than 250 yards/game on offense. We did 304 yards/game in 2009.

What year is that? I am fully aware that we had some kick arse defenses! I just wish we would have them again. I love dominate defensive teams! I loved it when LSU would take the field on defense I knew in my heart that the other team was not going to score and when they did it was like WTF just happened! Then the nest series we would go 3 and out!

ETA: I am not a ranter, I am hoping for the best with Chavis and a aggressive style of defense this year!

We don't need a whole lot to get from 9-3 to 10-2. We we're a C-hair away last year. So IMO even a Top 30 D and top 50 O would get us there.

Well then if LSU had Matt Barkley instead of JJ, would LSU go to the BCS title game? Since we're just throwing shite out there.

He couldn't win 10 in the PansyAssClub10, and you think he could lead us to a MNC?

Why do people on rant think the QB makes a team, when year after year the SEC, aka MNC Champ, proves them wrong. Even Tebow was no eyepopper except for rushing skills.
Mcelroy, all world?
Flynn, Mauk, Russell, Leak, leading the NFL?
Behind last year's line, Brees would've been throwing his hands up in disgust, saying I'm the new frickin Archie Manning.

With a top notch SEC defense you are in every game so if you can produce 20 pts a game then you will be tough to beat!

If we're only putting up 20 points/game, we have serious issues.
