Next time you go to a game take a stop watch with you and time the throw to first. I'm guessing your smart enough to make a rough estimate of how far his throw would be to first, and then just work out the math. It's not going to be exactly 100% right on, but it will give a pretty good estimate. It will also eliminate this idea that he is throwing 100 mph from 3rd to first.

I say he's hitting 87mph tops, and yes, this dude is an idiot if he truly believes he's hitting 100

if this guy believes a third baseman is throwing 100mph, he has no comprehension of how fast that is. VERY few pitchers in the big leagues from a wind up throw that velocity. all i can say is WOW

I just read back earlier in the thread where someone said that he was throwing high 80s, topping at 90, off a mound in high school. To think that he picked the arm strength to throw 100 on flat ground from then until now is completely ridiculous.

maybe i am not comprehending then

if a 3rd baseman can sling a 100mph ball across the field, i will kiss someone's arse.

i think he should be the closer if true!! have a left hander that throws junk balls right before him, then break out the nolan ryan of third baseman to close

If the radar gun said that, they must be using the same one FOX had a couple years ago with the entire Detroit pitching staff throwing 103-104 mph.

You're really missing out then.

I heard that Tyler Hanover is trying out for quarterback this spring because Les Miles saw him throw a football out of Tiger Stadium from the opposite endzone.

If he's throwing around 110 mph, why not just put him in the outfield and eliminate the cut-off man. Hell, move DJ to the right side and Hanover can play shallow left. He should still be able to throw them out from back there.

John: My son played 3rd base and pitcher in his 14 year old league. They used regulation bases, so the throw from 3rd to 1st was the same length as in college. He pitched at about 80 mph and could easily get the ball from 3rd to 1st without it dropping. From 3rd to first is about 130 feet, so, at 80 mph the ball would get there in 1.08 seconds, that is not too long. By the way, if the 3rd baseman actually throws 100 mph, it would only take about .9 seconds to throw from 3rd to 1st.
