Sounds like a workable schedule. I personally prefer Vancouver to Victoria. And depending on where you go in Vancouver, you wouldn't necessarily need a car.

Salumi's downtown is awesonme. Get there at 11 to 11:30 during the week to beat the crowd. The muffelata and the fig spread, prosciutto and goat cheese sandwiches rock.

Seattle & Vancouver are home to some of the best weed in the country. You should have no problem getting your party favors hanging out downtown or on campus.

Yo JT,

Thinking about making a day trip to Vancouver on Sunday but can't decide whether to take the train or our rental car. Which would you choose, how long a trip is it, and what would you recommend seeing/doing in Vancouver if you had one day? Gotta be back in Seattle late that night to catch our flight Monday morning.

Thanks, man!

Jersey....what do you think of the Ballard district? I see a lot of neighborhood types of places to eat online in that district.

It's cute. I certainly wouldn't make it a highlight of a short trip, though.

Don't take the rental car. I would recommend seeing Stanley Park and maybe LINK. It's pretty sweet.

Not sure what "midtown" is, but free buses are all over downtown.

JT - Not sure if you're taking specific requests for advice, but here it goes:

The GF and I have decided to stay Sunday and see a bit more of the area. The only thing we have planned is dinner at Herbfarm. I understand there are a few wineries near the restaurant. Would you suggest visiting a few prior to dinner?

Also, we're staying most of the weekend downtown, but should we stay up near the restaurant/wineries Sunday night if we're eating up there, or is it close enough to just take a cab back after dinner?

Anything else we should check out Sunday instead?

Many thanks.

I hope you have your reservations! What's the name of the menu they are offering right now?

You can visit Chateau St. Michelle which is right there by the Herbfarm. Or maybe you can arrive early to your dinner and take the tour of the premises where they show you how they grow all their own stuff.

It's far. I estimate that cab ride would be $50 +.

Enjoy. It's a great experience. It was a salmon theme the time I ate there.

Made reservations early last week. I thought it was pretty funny how they make you "request" reservations and then let you know later whether they can "grant" your request.

The menu is "The Great Northwest Barbeque". Should be interesting, to say the least.

Good suggestions. Also, we're considering just staying at the restaurant that night (they actually have a couple rooms). Have you heard anything about those suites?
