What's your opinion of the Residence Inn downtown Lake/Union, regarding accomadations and location relative to tourist attractions and UW campus.

Thank you.

Been scouring the boards, but haven’t seen anything on an official tailgating area for the game. We arrive on Wednesday and plan on trying to visit all the brew pubs we can.

Game day we have reservations for the beach café boat ride for the game, but wanted to spend some time during the day on campus with others of like mind.

Current thoughts are we take a cab/bus over to the stadium ( we are near downtown – Homewood suites on western) mid morning with a throwaway cooler and hope to get fed by neighborly huskies…….then bus or cab over to the beach café about 3:30 for drinks and food and boat back to stadium at 5:30.

Was hoping to hook up with a tailgate crew and throw money at the drink and food situation.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Bob

Sounds like a plan, although I make no claims about Husky tailgate hospitality.

LSU Bob, you should do ok finding a friendly Husky tailgate.

I suggest starting at E12 (go to washington.edu and look for parking map...it is the lot immediately adjacent to the stadium on the south side, and is closest to where the party boats dock).

Also, new this year, UW is starting something called 'The Zone' which will basically be tents set up on a practice field immediately behind the large scoreboard (between the scoreboard and the lake). There will be beer / wine, not sure about the hard stuff. Entrance is free, and you may still actually be able to rent a tent and have it catered.....it's try gohuskies.com or call the AD department for info on 'The Zone'.

For Oklahoma last year, and Ohio State the year before, they were all over the place in E12 lot.

Good luck.

Document updated to provide some new bus and parking information.

DTDawg, have you ever taken the bus on gameday?

JerseyTiger, yes, i have a couple times, it's not a bad way to go, albeit i'm on Queen Anne hill, so UW is just a few stops away. I typically ride my bike and chain up to my buddy's rig for tailgating.

I know there are alot of express buses to the stadium on game day, and the rides are free (I think) if you flash your game ticket. Dropoff is typically right in front of the stadium on Montlake Ave, and they are all parked on Montlake in the same spot for after the game.

If i were driving in, i would try the parking lots in the southwest part of campus, just west of the Medical Center, if i didn't have a parking pass already.

The problem is the park and rides aren't in places that LSU fans are going to be staying in droves. I just want to confirm that the info on the UW website is correct - namely, that you can use the Metro anywhere on gameday just by flashing your ticket.

Since we are headed to Seattle my group has its heart set on eating crab legs one night. Where can I get the best crab legs if money is no object? I'm staying downtown if that helps any.

Even the intra-city rides are free, it doesn't need to be from a park and ride, although the park and rides i believe are express (direct shot to stadium, no stops).

If you were already in the city, say at a hotel downtown, just find the route / stop that goes to UW / Husky stadium, jump on the bus, flash the ticket for a free ride. It probably won't be an express (will stop along the way), but it gets you there. When I've taken it, i've jumped on in Fremont, and got off on the west side of campus. A couple routes may change or not be available on gameday, but that info is easy to find (at a hotel).

The thing I worry about now is overflow because I think you're going to see an away crowd like you've never seen before.

based on this board, it looks that way.

I would guess Oklahoma brought about 10K last year, and Ohio State represented well the year before, probably also 10K.

If i were planning the bus from DT Seattle, I'd use the Metro Bus website link below. Type in where you'll be, where you're going (UW), what time you want to leave / get there, and it will tell you the route # and where to grab the bus.

LINK

On a different note, any LSU fans who may be in Canada and traveling down the day of game, i'd plan for 2+ hours wait to cross the border into the US. I came back from a weekend at Whistler two weekends ago, and my wait was 80 minutes (at the main crossing in Blaine / Peace Arch). Traffic will probably be heavier labor day weekend in both directions (canada bound and US bound).

I went ahead and added that link, although it's amazing at how non-user friendly the layout is. I warned people also to pay attention to the N/S/E/NW/etc. after a lot of street names. I'm still not used to the absurd naming system in King County.

Ronnie, this is a very nice place, on the pricey side, but you should be happy. Also on Pier 70, so you're hanging over the Sound.

this place is known for steak, but their seafood is good as well. Great service.

Both downtown.

Can't go wrong either way.
