Just read the transcript. Your title should say "Well no changes on Defense per Dudebro2's inability to comprehend, we will have to live with it."
Works for me!!!

WC - don't get high on your own supply!!!
Per Miles transcript;
"Played a lot of young guys on defense. That's the way it's supposed to be. We've got to get them ready. When you're tested by your best opponents, that's where you find out more.
I think we got the right guys. I don't think there's any reason to put guys to the side. But we got to get better. I think we'll all kind of reach in and get that done this week."
later in the transcript he did say;
"One of the things we're going to want to do is get some fresh bodies out there with the veterans. If we can get some young guys ready to take more snaps in games like that, the veterans get to play a little bit fresher, more ready to play.
We're looking for those guys that can come in and give five snap breaks, if you will. If we can get that done, that will make the whole defense a little bit fresher."
How is that different from any other year including this year?
And this;
"Q. When you talk about the young guys, trying to get them ready, is the biggest thing to get young guys ready more of a talent issue?
COACH MILES: There's a place we need them to be. Those are the things we have to teach them."
and lastly their was this;
"Q. You said after the game John Chavis was sick. What is his approach coming forward?
COACH MILES: The great thing about John, he's such a veteran guy, been through so many different scenarios like this, so he's going to know just how to approach it.
We have good players. We like our players. Our coaches are in it with our players. We're not going to get other guys. We're going to coach the ones we got. I think the review and the view will be good. I think John will be great."
So WC, where in the transcript does it say there is going to be different personnel they are going to try? Oh that is right there isn't anywhere, it is very clearly stated they are happy with the personnel on the field they just need to better coach them up!!!!
Way to go dumb-arse, after your comments it is plainly obvious you need to take a reading comprehension course!!! Invest in one it will help you through life!!!

Sure sounds like he wants the younger guys to step up and play more.

I think that is just common sense when things aren't working well, which I think everyone can agree our defense is not working well. Of course you want people to step up and we only have youth on our defensive side of the ball.
But I think it is extremely clear who will be starting this week with comments like this;
I think we got the right guys. I don't think there's any reason to put guys to the side.

I read it as; no changes, work in progress, need to do a better job of coaching up our guys, we feel we have the right personnel on the field, we are still going to try and get reps for some of the younger guys to see how that works. What has changed since the first game? To me nothing.

Well, no shite. This isn't the NFL where you can pick up new players in the middle of the season if the ones you have aren't working out.
He didn't say that there wouldn't be any changes. At this point, all he or anyone else can do is keep coaching the players he has. Get some fresh bodies in there, and hope for improvement.

Even after 8.5 seasons, people still can't seem to grasp that Miles is never going to come out and say, "X player sucks so we're going to put in Player Y."
That's not how he operates. I'm not claiming that we will actually see permanent personnel changes, I'm just saying Miles won't be very forthcoming about it.

are you saying they don't have the right personnel on the field? If so....who would you replace and with whom.

This ain't the pros can't make trades in college.

Really!! Do you have to speak Miles-ease to figure that one out. Come on No shite is right, it isn't the NFL but do you really think Miles was referring to something like that.
Or more we like who we have on the field "meaning our starters" he pretty much states all over the transcript that who they have on the field they have to coach up, not necessarily switch who they have on the field.

Yes I know Miles is not going to say someone sucks and we are going to replace him, but he does say we need to see a better effort from certain positions and things of that sort. I think the key to the entire transcript was repeatedly saying "the players we have need to be coached up better" I take that as the starters need to be coached up, the subs are not in enough to make that statement.

I ever thought Id see an LSU middle linebacker get shite on more than Jacob Cutera(sp?) from back in 2009. But Welter has made it happen

Well, he's already played at least 20 different people on defense this season. With about. 13 or 14 having multiple starts. So yeah, I think he's saying that they like the players on the team, and the coaches need to do a better job of preparing them.

I really think a lot of it is execution. They aren't executing the plays.
There is still a chance for out defense to get better before we play a decent offensive team.
Out offense improved greatly last year.

All I am saying is what we are doing is not working no matter how good people want to say UGA's offense is. Like I said Auburn only ran for 130 yds against Miss St, they ran for 216yds on us.
Look I have bagged on Welter, but as a poster stated to me, going after specific players on this forum is probably not in the best interest of LSU, and I agree. That being said after watching Welter during the UGA game specifically and the replays he actually gets into the right positions. Does he take bad angles sometimes? Yep. Does he get manhandled sometimes? Yep. But he might be our best option at this point, and whether people want to admit this or not he has improved dramatically from our first two games, the bar was kind of low granted but he has improved dramatically.
I don't have the answers, but I do know this from playing the game, at what I feel is a high enough level to know, it all starts with the front 7 on defense. If we can not contain the run better than we have, there is absolutely no way we are going to prevent someones passing game. We gave up 196yds to UGA "and Gurley didn't play 2/3 of the game" and 216yds Auburn.
Houston we have a problem!!!!

OMG! Send this to Chavis right now!! I'm sure in his many years of coaching top defenses he's never realized how important the front 7 is.
you're bitching like a little woman over some imaginary changes you were expecting.
you started this stupid thread like you were expecting personnel changes.....who did you want replaced and with whom? if you don't have an answer the politely stfu.

Yeah 31 still in alot more 10 yard runs up the middle but wait he had 9 tackles last game
What an idiot you are.
They were gashing us whether 31 was in or out. The problem isn't 31 as much as 9, 90, 59, and 94. Our Dline is getting creamed.
You know, last year idiots like you were saying Mett was overrated. I was saying Mett is awesome, but the Oline is the problem. Suddenly this year Mett is great? Did he improve so much between his fourth and fifth year of college? Idiots like you will say Cam is the difference. The real difference is the Oline is playing well this year. Our DB's and LBs will get a lot better suddenly when our Dline improves.

Hmmmm, let's see they realize and can't fix it, they realize it and don't have the personnel to fix it, they realize it and feel what they are doing will correct the problems, they realize it and make changes to try and have the defensive scheme work better with the personnel on the field or change some of the personnel or they continue to do what they are doing and hope for the best. You pick which one you like and put it into your thoughts

If you don't like the thread, than don't read it no one is forcing you to. I have already stated I am not going to bag on players, as a poster pointed out it is probably not in the best interests of LSU and I agree with that thought.

How many changes did Saban make after A&M went for 500+ on them?
The best defense is on the field, they will mature, learn and get better after a game like that.
