re: What exactly is Canada's offense?

At his introductory press conference he was asked that question. His answer was "the kind that scores points". He went on to say he will adapt his offense to his players strengths whatever that may be.

I think what he was saying is there are core things they want to do...philosophically how you go about doing those things will depend on the players. Who can do those things with the most proficiency and consistency and from there you look at what that specific player does well to tailor the offense to that end
Just a thought

LSU has the athletes at WR/RB, and in the future the QB (Brennan), to run what Peterson runs at Washington and Gundy runs at Oklahoma St. LSU has the athletes at QB/WR/RB, to run what Herman ran at Ohio St and Dabo runs at Clemson.
I'm hoping for power spread myself.

The biggest difference between the old LSU offense and what Canada seems to be bringing to the table is that he will not allow the defense to get set before the play.
He brings a whole new level of motions before the snap that puts most of the defense on their heels. Those motions aren't just to disguise formations... they are planned to have certain effects relative to the play called depending on the particular defense's tendencies. If an opponent doesn't let the motions effect them then the motions would typically set up the mismatches that are desired. On the other hand, if a defense quickly reacts to the motions then their purpose might be misdirection.
These are not new ideas whatsoever BUT a Canada ran offense just does it better than most. They are visibly more active before the snap and just look like they work harder each and every play because of it. It's like they just want it more than an offense that just lines up and comes at you. That's what I like about Canada. He is playing chess while Les was content to play checkers.
I certainly don't like the trip option as a staple play. I've seen our Tigers eat it up too often to be impressed.

It's a spread offense that embraces the run without being gimmicky like Auburn's.
Ouuu, I like the sound of that

It's flexible, adaptable, and spectacular

Efficiency
Rather than focusing on stupid stats
Tds matter not throwing or rushing a certain amount of yards
Was never happy when Miles said we will throw for more yards after last season
Just do what works and get in the end zone
His qb didn't throw a ton of yards but had a bunch of tds and he can coach great rbs from all schools

TriDitty is absolutely correct. It's "formation football". If you ever watched Spurriers original offense at Florida, the theory is similar. Use various formations in an attempt to out flank/position/matchup the defense. The formations will shift just before the snap to create mismatches, leverage on an edge, more numbers on a side, etc. the difference between what he does and Spurrier did is that he is flexible between the run and pass. He will adjust to his strength and play call accordingly. Spurrier was more pass oriented (despite having great backs through his Florida years) and tended to call pass plays when he really did not need to.

Canada's offense is something you wouldn't or couldn't understand....

Watch the Bowl Game and see what Ensminger did with the Offense. He ran about 10 Formations and I had posted on here and even showed some photos. Ensminger ran the Spread and Pro-Style and used some I also.

Seems like it's undefined but it's designed around the strengths of the personnel. So complete opposite of Les Miles.

No buddy he was talking about QBs in one part then talking about the entire team in the other part. What he said was he will start the QB that can best run his entire system and then said once that is decided he will break it down further to fit the offense to the overall teams strengths. I guess some people just hear what ever they want. The man knows exactly what he wants but doesn't know the players all that well is basically what he said. Man some of y'all just like to make a positive comment negative no matter what. It's people like you that help the opposition, thanks a-hole. GT

Go watch Georgia Tech play, it's exactly like that. I can't wait to watch it with all our running backs it should be fun to watch us run the ball all the time like that. That will make us forget Miles pretty quickly.
