I remember that game on Feb 22, 1982. I was a kid in Kentucky at the time and had to attend a wedding that day. When we went into the church all our friends were so happy because UK was up by eight early in the game.
Dad was good to me and we left before the reception because I was so concerned about the game. We turned on the radio in the car on the way home and listened to UK's broadcasters in total despair saying how they wished they had never even come to the game and that LSU had been lying in wait to surround and slaughter the Wildcats.
We had set the VCR to record the game, and so when I got home I had to watch every second of that game. Later, I set the VHS tape aside so I would always have it. Then one day, my eveil sister recorded and episode of "Days of Our Lives" over half the game. Thirty-five-and-a-half years later I have still not forgiven her.
Final score of that game was 94-78 LSU over Kentucky. One of my all time favorites! (And yes, at one point in that game we led by 35!)
Thanks for reminding me of how great LSU basketball once was under that wonderful man we all loved, Coach Dale Brown!
If you get a chance, look up his website and send him a note of thanks and appreciation. He has always personally responded to each e-mail and snail mail letter I have ever sent. He is our own version of Kentucky's Adolph Rupp even though we never had a championship under him. Of all college coaches, he has the most wins of them all against that machine known as Kentucky.

1980 Auburn a blowout to clinch the SEC championship. 1981 Wichita State in the Superdome.

1959. LSU 7, Ole Miss 3. Billy Cannon return. I was 11 and was sitting on the East side. When he started to make his run everyone stood up so I could't see the field. I was a few seats from the isle so I squirmed by way to a quick view of him flashing by.

1971. LSU 28, Notre Dame 8. Bert Jones to Andy Hamilton for 2 TD's and Tommy Casanova's interception in the South End Zone. I was with a date about 20 rows up in the ends zone with a drink in each hand! My father asked me the next morning what was I drinking. I played dumb and he said he had seen me acting like a fool on national TV.

The good ole days for sure.

LSU-Auburn in 1980. Have not seen too many mention this game, but it was very exciting. And loud! Back and forth. Sealed with a Quinn interception. Great memory.
I was a little kid, but I absolutely remember that game for sure. Totally exciting, no question about it, and you're so right, it never gets mentioned.
The USC game rules above all else, but that Auburn game stuck with me too.

Basketball. Yes the game when we win the conference in 1979 ( first one in student section) but the game we beat Kentucky in OT when all five starters fouled out
Football. 76. Six six tie against Nebraska when they were number one

The punt return by Cannon was draining but, the goal line stand after was heart stopping!
By the way, the official running to the lright of Cannon was not working the game. He could not get a ticket, so put on his uniform to get in.
