re: What kind of D are we going to be dealing with Aug. 30th?

I will guarantee you that ASU cannot stop us from running the ball. Our OL+TE is going to consist of 5 NFL draft picks, and likely 3 NFL RBs. If no one in the SEC could stop us last year - and we return almost the entire line - then ASU will not be able to stop us.

thats what he is saying.
my prediction for this game:
LSU 45
ASU 7 (garbage TD in 4th quarter)
2 field goal shanks for ASU as well.
Chad Jones will be lurking. Waiting for armanti edwards.
LSU runs wild on ASU, 5 TD's on the ground, 300+ yards rushing.
Richard Murphy runs wild in the second half, as Crappy state fans are crying wondering what happened.

you can all you want, but Michigan had two heisman candidates and the #1 overall draft pick on offense that got shut down.
Michigan in that game:

WTF do you consider getting shut down?

Geez, I just read this entire thread, and now you guys understand what I've had to put up with the last few weeks up here in North Cackalacky. Just remember, they love the weed up there in Boone.
Now, as for the Ranter who suggested 62-10, I disagree wholeheartedly - not because LSU isn't capable, but because Les won't allow it. There have been several games in his three years where we could have easily topped the half century mark but didn't. That's just not his style. We'll get into the 40s point-wise, and App. may put 17 on the board with a late score or two, but GGASU is just a brain-dead slug if he thinks LSU, with four returning starters (including two pre-season ALL-SEC picks) on the O-line, and at least a four-deep rotation at running back is going to have trouble against a defensive front that is outweighed by over 35 pounds per man in late August Louisiana heat and humidity.
It'll be close for one quarter, if that. App. snuck up on Michigan. It will not sneak up on LSU.

Understatement. If some Tiger fans knew how fine the "cash crop" in them thar hills was, they might be a little nicer.

We won't know until we play the game. However, my feeling is it could be like this picture. The canine on the left represents Appalachan's defense. The water hydrant represents LSU's offense.

Sheer logic (which, lets face it is rarely in abundance here or any other msg. bd.!!) suggests that it would be hard to put up 62 points AND a huge rushing total for game clock reasons alone. The more you run the ball, the quicker the game goes by, minimizing your posessions. I think that LSU will run the ball quite a bit like UM SHOULD have done but inexplicably failed to do. When they marched down on their first posession and punched it in, it showed them all they needed to do but they failed to follow through. Maybe they were influenced by our quick score on OUR 1st posession but all they had to do was pound us all day long. We were fired up but adrenaline takes you just so far..
Additionally, I think LSU will run to give confidence and flow to Hatch or Lee followed by dink and dunk. You may go downfield some but not until you get a safe lead.
Having said all of that our D is going to HAVE to stop you early to try to force CLM's hand a bit and hopefully get a mistake from your inexperienced QB's...If that doesn't happen we could be in big trouble...I think we will score more than you guys think but in the end will lose by 14 to 17 points. Candidly our special teams have been an issue also so every kick-off or punt could be highlight material...
Looking forward to it with w/e happens and w/e the outcome....

You do realize that Miles is a BIG believer in time of possession right? So let's understand it as you won't be able to stop our rush attack and will see lot of it. The sad thing is we could run on you all day and still show you something different while doing so under Crowton. Hey I respect App for what they have done in their div but let's be honest, We are no UM and this won't be in the Big House.
To think that App will show up in Death Valley and shut down the run is just pipe dreams. But I would agree that LSU will run to help out the QB and mix in a few dink and dunk passes here and there. Thing is with the WRs we have and the talent surrounding Hatch or Lee that's all they will need to do. Their job is to MANAGE the game and put the ball into the play makers hands. Which if you know anything about LSU football then you'd know there are a lot of them. See ya Aug 30th...

Guys, So sorry for that other guy. I couldnt believe what I was reading. We know what we are up against and we are excited about the challenge. That is all that needs to be said from the APP side.We can blame his crazy predictions on the long off season we have all just endured(the worst part is now I think, it just will not get here). I dont think there could be a better way for us to start off our season (blowout or not)then to be battle tested in Baton Rouge, yall are as good as it gets.

hell MY msg. was poorly written I guess...You seem to think that I believe we will stop you..I don't think we will...My ONLY ref. to the UM game was to show how you guys will prob. do what they SHOULD have done... When I wrote that we will HAVE to stop you early that, in my opinion, is really our only hope...NOT a big one either...For the gajillionth time we KNOW you aren't UM and we KNOW we aren't playing in the Big House....The direction is different the crowd will be smaller though apparently louder, the colors are different, teams etc...we KNOW all of that....yet we still have the faith and are coming to see a shock..otherwise we wouldn't make the trip..We would let the team go play, get the check, and stay home...
STILL can't wait
Now have good day!!

Wasnt talkin about your post, yours was great.I was talkin about the other guy who kept saying we were going to shutdown lsu's running game and all that crazy stuff. He was making some ignorant comments really boldly, and he has never been to Woodlands! Felt like I just had to say something.

LCA131 I understood what you were trying to say, I was just throwing that out there to the other guy who has no clue who we are with little reference to how Miles loves to control the clock.
I also agreed with a statement of yours as far as running mostly with some dink and dunk here and there. I get how you are excited and have faith, I respect that. You wouldn't be a true fan if you didn't. Just saying App is in for a long game come Aug 30th and in for one hell of a fight, But please come and enjoy the experience. Most of us are not as bad as they make us out to be and if your not afraid to talk to some tailgaters they will be more than willing to share food and drink.

I am sure your undersized dlinemen are going to be able to handle a true D-1 oline. Herman Johnson will make holes all game long.

One of the biggest factors is going to be the heat/humidity.
+1
The Rock is well over 3,000 ft in elevation. TS is at or below. The humidity will be stifling. 4pm kick off late August, they better hope it doesn't rain that afternoon or it will be unbearable. No matter how much conditioning is done, ASU will not be physically ready for the environment. When those players step off the plane, they will know.
