So 4 of the last 10 SEC champs use a sophomore or freshman QB to win.
Perrilloux: DID NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE SEASON.
Mauck: Didn't even play the entire game and rarely played that season at all.
Greene: Not a true sophomore
Zow: Not a true sophomore

New rules. You can't be successful at QB in the SEC as a true sophomore. Boy are you drinking the Les Aide!!!

Perrilloux started one game
The MTSU game goes down in the record books as a game played, as well the SECCG vs UT.
That makes 2(two) games that Perrilloux was the starting QB.

No one mentioned in this thread fits that mold so I say no.

He brought us a win against Tennessee. That was the extent of his influence in the SEC race.
Let's be honest. We would have smashed MTSU with Keilland Williams as the starting QB. Furthermore, the game had absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the SEC race. Seeing as how the point is a sophomore QB that was instrumental in the team winning the SEC, MTSU doesn't qualify.

This is by no means the end-all, but I decided to see what QBs finished in the top 20 in the nation in pass efficiency as FR or SO. i indicate which bowl the team went to, as this was easier than looking up if they were in contention for a conf. championship or some other thing.

But he was not the QB the entire season therefore he did not have to endure the rigors of the entire season.

Mauck helped us win THAT game. He had NOTHING to do with getting us there. Not to mention wasn't he like 46 as a freshman?

Which is why I later clarified. That extra year makes a HUGE difference apparently.

Some people are confusing age with experience. If you are not taking snaps with the starters in practice and have little game experience, then you are not "experienced.
If you have played the most part of 7-8 games, you are experienced.

JJ has 4 times more game experience now than Matt Flynn had against Virginia Tech in 2007.
The excuse worked for the first three games. Six games in, plus a game and a half last year and the bowl game. Come on. He should be better. And he hasn't shown an inch of improvement. Indeed, he looks worse.

Agreed but that's not really the argument in this thread. Flynn was also a 5th year senior and maturity is a big factor when it comes to QB play in the SEC.

I thought the thread was about when a QB becomes experienced. That was the question I was answering. JJ is "experienced" and those who try to say otherwise are making accuses for his lack of development. Some guys have "it" and some do not. Unfortunately, we look to be batting 0-2.

So now, as a 19 year old he just doesn't have "it". Whatever the frick "it" is.
