Told ya before - screen pass to Yeldon scarred him for life.

he has aggressive moments and even periods, but not an aggressive mentality....he has had some AGGRESSIVE players.
I think Chief's MO is more of finding an anchor (some part of D that he can count on) and building aggressiveness around that. On a scale of 1-10, I'd rate Chavis' "aggression factor" about 7.

he was fired from TN because of doing what he is now doing at LSU.
I thought he was part of Fulmer's staff so when Fulmer was fired so was everyone on his staff. Kiffen brought in his dad as DC.

he lost us the Alabama game doing just that.
This is an overstatement since there were a lot of questions in that game. But I agree that far too many teams score on their last possession of the half. He really needs to reconsider how he's defensing in these contexts.

This. Thank you. I was at the BAma game last year and we blitzed every down on that last drive

We couldn't get pressure with 4 and 5 rushing, so I am not sure why he ever goes into that defense. Had there been 1 minute left in the game, fine, but there was 4 minutes left for UGA and that defensive play calling was maybe the most pathetic I've ever seen from an LSU DC.
UGA's coaches figured out that to counteract their poor coverage they'd send the house and low and behold it worked.

upvoted.
Blitz more. If we get burned then frick it. Got burned playing soft zone so what's if matter.

you know, there just comes a time when you have to say, "that guy just beat me." I'm sure most intelligent posters on this site were worried about what GA's offense could do against this defense. Well, GA did what they were supposed to do and if not for a couple plays, the game is different.
Just surprising the amount of shock and concern over the defense when most knew it was going to suspect at the start of the season.

Haven't watched the replay of the Georgia game but I can't recall us rushing more than 4 at any time. I might have missed a couple of plays but I do know that Murray seemingly had all day to throw and a quarterback of his caliber will kill you unless you make him feel the pressure. Can't understand why Chavis almost abhors the blitz. Remember in 2011 against West Virginia, Geno Smith had 65 pass attempts and was not sacked ONCE.. I do think we did get a tipped ball INT, but 65 attempts without a sack speaks volumes about how passive a Def. coordinator Chavis is. If you think about it, almost every time a great QB has a bad game it is because of a fierce pass rush. Can't really argue with the Chief's numbers over the years but the right question is: How much better could our defense be if he blitzed even 15-20% of the time? Got to make the other QB hear footsteps. Patrick Petersen and Mo Claiborne would have trouble covering wideouts when you have to cover for 4 seconds or more. John "what's a Blitz" Chavis.

I don't care what Chavis calls that 3-2-6, it ends up being a piss poor prevent.

Chavis never changed. Cooper left and the talent dropped precipitously.

It wasn't too long ago we "relied" on our defense not only to shut down out opponent but to also score. Is it possible, now that we have an offense that can score, is the mentality of the defense more geared towards not giving up big plays....which allows for longer drives?

To the NFL with the rest of his defense.
