If the opposition plays 5 wide, 4 wide single back, or a ton of 11 with the RB going out in pass situations, then you would play several Dime snaps in a game on 3rd and longs or longer due to penalties and sacks. If Perkins stays on the field, maybe the Dime is CB3. If he moves to DE for a rush package (which we’ve evidently run in practice), then CB4 is playing Dime.
And that’s without normal rotation or guys getting nicked or injured.
