Come on man, this is a gimme.

There are no gimmes this year in the SEC(a bunch of average teams). We aren't talented enough yet to have gimmes either.

LSU is the SEC's most experienced and most talented team. That doesn't mean any game is a gimmie. Ole Miss wasn't supposed to win 2 games this year and they've already got 3. Bama plays tough. Miss State just beat UK on the road. I don't think the league is tough but I think everyone is average

Good interview with Dean, Jr. today. Get him on every week.

Also try these guys for good basketball talk:

Dave Baker - raycom and UK Sports
Bary Booker - Raycom
Jimmy Dykes - ESPN
Bob Kessling - UT sports (formerly with JP)

Elleshoe,
That's what I meant. They weren't supposed to win 3 conference games b/c of injuries and off court issues. I figured everyone knew what I meant.

Pisces, we have had Dean on the last 3 weeks. We had him weekly last year. I also regulary have Gary Parrish from CBSsports on the show as well

UGA is fricking terrible. They're riding an 8 game losing streak ffs. Before that they lost to Loyola-IL, W KY, and aTm-CC.

I agree, they are at the bottom of my power ratings for the SEC (based on 3 wins, quality wins, quality losses, and SOS). Nonethless, what a trap game/take a day off game for LSU. Why bother with an 0-7 SEC school, when you have a revenge game on Sunday?

Speaking of power ratings...(best OOC win in parentheses)

1. Florida (Washington)
2. LSU (Washington State)
3. Kentucky (Kansas State)
4. Tennessee (Marquette)
5. South Carolina (Baylor)
6. Miss State (Houston)
7. Alabama (Saint Joseph's)
8. Arkansas (Oklahoma)
9. Ole Miss (Central Florida)
10. Vanderbilt (VCU)
11. Auburn (Middle Tenn State)
12. Georgia (Virginia Tech)

Someone called the radio show and said that the SEC "must be better than we think b/c Arkansas beat UT and Oklahoma but is 1-5 in SEC play". I personally think the SEC is Average and Balanced. The reason everyone is competative is b/c the league is average.

Yeah, it's a very average league...somehwere just behind the Pac 10 and right in front of the A 10, but it will be a great league in 2 years and will be better next season. Depending upon who UGA and Bama hire, the SEC will have an awesome collection of head coaches. The days of the "redneck coach" are gone as the SEC now fishes into mid-major confernces like the Horizon, Colonial, and Gateway and gets top-notch up and comers. The likes of John Brady, Mark Gottfried, etc. are gone. Now, the conference has coaches from excellent trees...Pelphery and Donovan from Pitino; Jeff Lebo from Dean Smith; Bruce Pearl from Dr. Tom Davis; Kevin Stallings from Gene Keady and Roy Williams; Billy Gillispie under Bill Self. The league has grown...

When the SEC was an elite basketball conference, most of the coaches were older and had paved the way for it to be good. Along with Dale Brown, Wimp sanderson from Bama; Hugh Durham from UGA; Eddie Sutton from Kentuckyl CM Newton from Vandy; Norm Sloan from Florida; Don DeVoe from UT; Sonny Smith from Auburn...these were the coaches who built programs and/or inherited good ones and made them better/kept them strong. When the men I mentioned in the previous paragraph stick around for double-digit years, you'll see the SEC put in 7-8 teams into the tourney like it once did.

Did you hear our discussion about the UGA/Alabama coaching vacancies? Scone says that bama has to make a splash hire. To me a "splash" hire is a lot different in basketball as opposed to football. If either of these teams could get an Anthony Grant or Mike Anderson that would be a splash. You can hire coaches from mid majors and it can be considered a splash unlike in football.
