Yeah, with Saban's players. We were idiots to let him go. I wouldn't have minded the tax increase as long as Saban kept winning the National Championship.

I just hope that I have more of a life than to have 10,856 posts. And they were Saban's players with the same schemes on offense and defense.

U r so right!

Dam LM! How dare him only win 51 games, 2 west titles, SEC title, 2 BCS bowls, go to 5 bowls, be ranked #1, 3, 6, 17, and a NC.

Yeah, sure Saban didn't even know half of the teams names by the time we won it all in 2007.

Sabes would probably come back if we offered

Would take at least 5-6 million and a prolonged back and forth bidding war with his present employer. That would be the ultimate revenge though; stealing Little Debbie away from Gumpland to come back and coach here. That would be the all-time college football fanbase meltdown if that scenario played out......

John Gruden rebuffed LSU admins.

I personally wanted them to hire Butch Davis, but I don't think he wanted to coach in the SEC.

But they hired Les, and I think it has worked out well.

ARE you saying that it is unacceptable for LSU to finish anywhere but ahead of those two teams?

Essentially the ONLY acceptable outcome to an LSU season is National Title, correct?

WHAT A BUNCH OF SPOILED ENTITLED WORTHLESS FANS LSU HAS BEEN SADDLED WITH.

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOODNESS GET OFF THE BANDWAGON NOW, WE JUST DON'T HAVE ROOM!

Anyway what people are bitching about is that year end and year out, Miles coached teams are always sloppy and undisciplined. That we struggle against teams we should easily defeat such as Troy State, Tulane, ULL, and LA Tech, and that we lose games against teams we should easily defeat like Kentucky, Arkansas, and Ole Miss. Let's face it, LSU has actually been very painful to watch these past few years.

Nevertheless, having said that, I believe LSU has a team this year capable of competing for the SEC Championship, and if we don’t do at least that, I will be pissed.

Not a whole hell of a lot that would offer any long-term stability, as it was such a late hire.

Which is much better than losing to teams like UAB and ULM...

So, it was painful to watch LSU put 31 unanswered points on THE Ohio State University to Win a National Championship?

I'm sorry, but I have been watching/following/covering LSU Football since the 70s at no time in the last 10 years did I think it was painful to watch LSU football.

In 1998 IT WAS PAINFUL but since 2000 it's been pretty darn good.

I wasn't happy about 2008 but there was obvious improvement last year in critical areas, while we took a step back in another. I expect that area to be addressed and this year will be more than just fun to watch!

Again, last four SEC Champs = National Champs so that's your BAM? (BAM = Bare @$$ Minimum)

And tell me how LSU didn't compete for the SEC in 2009.

If the gumperees give us just one honest call when Petersen tore up a foot of sod with both feet INBOUNDS and we turn that into a score things would/could have been a lot different….

While the entire "Who was available?" argument is always fun...let's be honest with ourselves and say that hind sight is always 20/20.

Frankly, I'm very happy the Petrino thing didn't work out. Imagine him bolting us in what, 2 years for the Falcons job? Where would we be?

Jack Del Rio, I don't know. He seems like he would've fit. He's had moderate success as a professional head coach, but does that automatically equate to success on the college level? Maybe, but not 100% positive.

Butch Davis would've been a dream scenario...and we probably would be in a pretty good position right now still.

Les Miles? Has...all things considered, delivered results for us. Problem lies within the actual game management and impatient fans. The Perrilloux situation put him in a position he didn't anticipate being in. So this "rough" 2 year patch should be expected IMO.

When I think about it, I believe the right hire was made. Never thought I'd say that.

This is the one that still bugs me. It was a complete clusterfrick. Miles wasn't going anywhere; there was no need to rush the hire at that point.
Thanks Skip!

Some of them were "Saban's Players" (assuming you mean players recruited by Saban) but they didn't recieve any coaching or "development" from Saban.. and last time I checked... "Mile's Players" come from among some of the best recruiting classes we have ever, EVER had here at LSU.

Translation: The Saban's players remark is stupid. We still have players of the same or better caliber across the board. Our current QB issues aren't much different than Marcus Randall, but maybe you were still in Middle School or something and don't remember.

Seriously?

Skip's handling of the Del Rio situation was a clusterfrick. It had nothing to do with Miles.

We were offering 3 Mil per, almost every damn coach would have listened and wanted to take over a top 10 program. Think of every pro assistant on down.

Any coaching search can have CF points in time.

Ask Tenn,. Michigan, and USC.

Why worry about the search when u land a coach who wins u a NC?
