We have gone on a similar if not better run like 3 other times in the PM era.
It wouldnt even have to be the same type of run. Just a 7-2 stint, would have us at 12-6

Overreaction! How is it "crazy" this team could still make it to Omaha? It really isn't all that crazy. I think it is crazy a fan says this barely halfway into the season w/ a 5-4 SEC record and 19-10 overall.

Unless I'm forgetting one besides last year we havnt had one of those since 08 (all smokes guys) CPM's second season. So no we don't go on similar runs often or ever under this coach. And with the lineup he's using, this team doesn't have the offensive capability or the pitching depth to do it. My first post said "as is" meaning I believe the talent is there like most years but this guy isn't going to use it correctly or put it together.

Common man

Let's take a look at a typical lineup under that 23 game winning streak.

I picked game 11 because it falls right in the middle...

Recruited and played for Smoke - Hollander
Recruited by Smoke and never played an inning while he was the coach - Mitchell, Dean, Ochinko, Schimpf
Recruited and played for Mainieri - Helehini, Clark, Landry, LeMahieu, Gibbs

One player had collegiate experience under Laval. The four recruits brought in by Thomas (but we'll count under Laval) never physically spoke to him as he was fired at the end of May.

The top 3 starters never pitched an inning under Smoke.

But yes lets keep telling people Smoke was responsible for the success in 2008...

If he didn't recruit them they aren't his recruits, doesn't matter if they played for him or not. If he's not here they don't come therefore their entire history at LSU is wiped away. That's some political level spin you tried putting on that though. Nice try.

OK? What exactly does this prove?

What?

Can you explain to me what it matters that Smoke recruited (and never coached) a few guys on our '09 and '08 teams without bringing up male genitalia? Thanks.

So Mainieri didn't coach Dean, Ochinko, Schimpf, or Mitchell?

Does this also mean the 2009 title is void?

I didn't say he didn't coach them did I? So no to both those attempts to put words in my mouth. Seriously you need to write for political media with all the spinning and putting words in ppls mouths.

Before you warped the entire point what I said was, don't expect for runs like last year to happen every year because they don't. Then someone said they have, to which I replied not since 08. And in 08 it happened with the types of players CPM does not recruit. Now can you understand that without spinning or lying about what I said?
