Has Peveto even done a good job with our LBs? I mean I would be happier if he hired a legit DC and let the guy assemble his own staff.
Are you willing to lose Davenport, Janzen Jackson, Brockers, Akiem Hicks, Kevin Minter & Drayton Clahoun maybe Downs & probably 5 star Safety Craig Loston over it?
What good is a New DC with no impact players?

you want to place a bet on that. how much money can you afford to lose.

If Les fires them and we lose those recruits, do you think that will be a poor decision on his part?

Didn't ULM beat Troy 31-30 last week and Ole Miss beat ULM 59-0 this weekend?

Riiiiiight because there's no way they could be really happy with the new DC and chose to stay on.

We already have impact players. They aren't being utilized.

Doesn't sound like a vote of confidence to me.
I'm cautiosly optomistic. I want it to work & it might all come together. Mallory can geta job anywhere he's connected & BDP is a helluva recruiter, he can catch on somewhere fairly easily as well. I don't know if they'd take a demotion at this point. Really like not to lose them.

Yes I do. I'm hoping if there are changes, they will stay on.

I'm not joking about this. LSU would lose more than 1/2 of our current Defensive recuits maybe mmore. Remember that 5 Star TE-Dajleon Farr who ended up in Miami for example.

We need Linebackers very badly. We need a bigtime Safety badly. That's not counting the DTs & DEs we need to replace this year.

Why do you think the new DC couldn't keep them on board or get other recruits.

Baker has played well, but this is our biggest need.

We have plenty of guys who could be good safeties. If they aren't developing that is on the coaches and we need to replace the coaches.

Worst case is RJF goes. That still leaves
Alem, Woods, Nevis, Corley(?) which is a solid front 4. We have good depth.
If these guys aren't producing its on the coaches and they should be replaced.

You don't know that. It's not like we'd be having a complete staff change. If we hire a reputable coordinator, they may all stay on.

Do you remember how long it took Les to find Pelini? If Miles makes a changes, it would be after the season & Bowl games. Signing day Feb 4.
That gives him roughly 1 month. Then after the New DC is in place, he'd probably have to go out and put together a staff. Another month, don't care who it is either. By this time, the top recruits are saying "LSU is unsettled, I don't even know who the position coach will be." Helped along by Urban Meyer & Saban, in their ear. Big losses for LSU on signing day. Losses that will affect us for more than a year.

Yes, we need a couple more there.

No we really don't. We have Karnell Hatcher & maybe Derrick Bryant. Chad Jones is Junior next year, McCray a Senior.

Alem & Woods are Seniors next year. We have some players, but we need to sign DTs & DE's. If not, the next bunch is available is February 2010. And can play 2 years from now.
All I'm saying is think it through very carefully.

Rocket, read above post & see if it sounds accurate or not.

Yes and Ole Miss beat Florida, and Florida beat us, and we beat Troy.............the fricking score comparisons don't work! Please stop comparing scores.

I still don't think they will all just jump ship because of a few staff changes. I understand the concern, but Miles will be in a tough spot. It depends on how we finish out.

This assumes he doesn't pick a guy before bowl season is over and have a handshake agreement in place.
The Pelini situation is totally different since Les was just hired.

Assuming he doesn't bring his with him or have agreements with the guys already.

Unless what I mentioned above happens. The Pelini situation is a terrible comparison.
You don't think any recruits would go, damn Dick Bumpas has turned out some really good defense with lacking talent. I'm talent think what he could make me. I think they would.

In other words we have guys for 2-3 years which you must admit would be enough for whoever the new DC is to bring in a guy or two.
If we need a recruit to replace one of those guys its an indictment on the coaches and they should be replaced.

Which we have enough depth to get by till then.

I have an I think you are making an idiotic argument. You act like we will hire a totally incompetent recruiting DC and absolutely none of the recruits has an attachment to Miles or LSU, which is absurd.

That's what I'm looking at, how we finish. It depends if there is a change, does the new guy want to bring in his own staff? I think yes on that, but it depends who it is. If not, would Peveto & Mallory take a demotion? My guess is definately Lose Mallory, 50/50 on Peveto. Biggest problem I see is the recruits get very attached to their position coaches. That really worries me. Earl Lane s a big deal too.

I would like to point out that stick with a terrible pair of DCs would impact us long past one lost recruiting class.
Posted on 11/16/08 at 2:01 pm to Sammich
Well, if he doesn't make changes and we get worse on defense next year and lose 4 or so games or more, he'll be in the same position next year.
