He’s clearly better than Bianco
I don’t want Bianco either. I want someone with head coaching experience and better than Bianco. That’s not a hard person to find. Cliff Godwin or Tony Vitello are my top two guys. Vitello number one.

Lol I’m not thrilled with the idea of Bianco but he is easily one of the top 15-20 coaches in college baseball and it’s not really debatable. Saying it is easy to find better than him is a hilariously bad take.

By your own admission there are at least 14 coaches better than him so it is easy to find them. You mean to tell me LSU can’t get one of the top 14 coaches in the country? I find that hard to believe.

Most aren’t available. We are one of the elite jobs but guys don’t just leave borderline elite jobs for a slight upgrade at the drop of a hat. We can pull it off but to imply it would be easy is asinine. And I was probably conservative on Bianco’s rating. Probably a top 10 coach. I would rather swing for the fences because I think we can afford to but we would be really good under Bianco

Is LSU’s ego too big to hire an assistant coach? Seems to have worked well for Tennessee.
Worked out well for LSU in the 80s when we had nothing to lose and hired some assistant from Miami.
But yes, there is no way Woody is hiring anybody's assistant for this job.

Better than Bianco and by far the best coach on Hail State staff, Lemonis included.

I’m a firm believer that LSU isn’t a place you come to learn how to be a head coach. You need to have that on your resume before coming.
L.O.L. LSU was Skip Bertman's very first and only head coaching job in college baseball. He was coaching high school for Christs sake when Ron Frasier hired him.
If what I'm reading about Gautreau is accurate, he'e exactly the kind of Asst Coach you give a job to. Might be better if he had a little more seasoning, but he certainly has established a reputation as a legit recruiter and player development coach.

Would Alabama football hire a head coach without head coaching experience? Or how about Kentucky basketball?
Well Pat Riley hired Eric Spoelstra to lead a marquee franchise with 3 of the biggest superstars in the NBA. I believe he started in the film room cutting tape and worked his way up.
If you know what to look for, the future Vitellos, Corbins, Tanners, even maybe Bertmans are out there right now.

One of these things is still living in the past just like LSU.
