When have we ever used Trindon as a decoy on end arounds?
When he's going the other way on a reverse. We have run this play many, many times.

I suspect we could get speed like that one day - as someone said, we recruit a lot of the same players - but I don't know if we are set up to use it quite the same way. Seems that Miles and co. prefer bigger backs and receivers, as well as a power running game, which would make it hard in a given year to transition so completely to exploiting speed. With that said, we had a tremendous, school-record offense in 2007 that featured some real big play threats in KW (I agree he looked slower last year but he busted some huge plays in 2006 and 2007) and Trindon. I don't know exactly how fast D. Byrd is but he sure played the role of big play WR pretty well in 2007. Admittedly, this is not the level of explosiveness of the 2008 UF group, but still not bad when you consider how productive the 2007 offense was AND how many big plays they produced while still featuring an effective power running game. And I think we can reach the 2007 level of production again in the next year or two.

ah the slip screen? that was definitely a jimbo holdover play that crowton incorporated. you don't need a mobile QB for that play. we just didn't run it last year we kind of shut down the offense later in the year, so i'm not surprised.
We probably shut it down after throwing a pick 6 vs Auburn on a screen.

This Play: go to 3:06 (this is also trindon as a decoy. we ran it like 3 times this game alone)

K-dub looked fast on that play. Looked to be slowing himself to stay in pitch position.

"We probably shut it down after throwing a pick 6 vs Auburn on a screen."

I don't think that was the slip screen, though. Wasn't that just a conventional screen set up to the sideline?

Crowton will get a chance this year. Holliday is fast, but not really a football guy. Shepherd will be a great weapon, so I am interested to see if Crowton can get him the ball. Miles is more of a pound it guy. He likes big OL guys who can make holes running downhill. He doesn't attack the edge or do as much mis-direction as Florida.

Again, it will be interesting to see the attack that Crowton comes up with in 2009. We have the talent to do both (speed & power), can we use it.

The thing about Rainey is that it isn't just straightline speed. The last guy that LSU had with a combination of speed, athleticism, and enough size was the young Skyler Green.

the pick 6 v AU was a swing screen that we killed them with in 2007

I wanna see the play where Shepard takes the snap out of the shotgun and runs the option to the right side of the field with KW, but he also has the option of tossing it back to Holliday on a reverse.

Harvin is not the fastest on the team. That would be Demps.
