I can remember going to the Capital One Bowl in 2005 (Saban's last game) and the Iowa fans appreared to outnumber LSU fans 2:1. So distance means nothing.

How fast do you drive? That drive usually takes me closer to 10 hours. I don't really speed though.
My bad. Google Maps shows 8 hours, 21 minutes. So I guess with eat/pee stops, you're close to 10 hours.

I could see that. From where I am right now it says 8 hours, 50 minutes. I live another 30 minutes south though, but then I guess they wouldn't be coming to my house.

....I just did that route for Thanksgiving.....
We left Thursday AM, stopped in Austin for turkey dinner, then on to the game....
Left for Wichita Falls Friday AM, got out Saturday just before the really cold weather hit.

Texas Bowl a step down for us
Since when?
It's the new normal.
When was the last time we played in a BCS/Playoff bowl?

Tech will have more fans.

Unless you live in Houston I don't see why any LSU fan would travel and spend money to go to that bowl

I was there. It was there. It was hardly 2:1. We were outnumbered but more like 55-45. Unacceptable and embarrassing nonetheless
55-45 was very conservative unless LSU fans were mute most of the game. Even on that last soul crushing play, until the catch, I basically heard nothing from LSU fans. Iowa fans were deafening the entire game.

Holy hell it's hard for to me imagine that driving 9 hours you'd still be in the same state. 9 hours from baton rouge and you could be in Atlanta.

If it were just fans in Houston alone, LSU and it wouldn't be close. I'd imagine there are more LSU fans in Houston than even Texas Longhorn fans. The only collegiate fanbase in Houston bigger than LSU's is A&M...and maybe Baylor.

There are more UT fans in Houston for sure. They are just more hidden. LSU fans are more likely to wear their LSU gear and more recognizable.
It will be about 50-50. Lubbock is a really long ways away, but there are quite a few alumns. And they will more likely be a little more fired up about playing us.

Seriously bro? I'm traveling from Cut Off, LA because:
A. I don't get to make many regular season games and this falls in the middle of a two week vacation.
B. My bro/sis in law live in Katy so it gives us an opportunity to spend time with them and our niece.
C. I'm an LSU fan and not a miserable frick.

From The Advocate:
LSU announced Tuesday that the school has sold its allotment of 8,500 tickets. Texas Tech has sold all but 2,000 of its allotted 10,500 allotment, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
The 60,000 already sold includes both allotments – even the 2,000 unsold by TTU – and about 35,000 more presold tickets to the game even before the pairing was announced.

So why the hell was TT given more allotted tickets than LSU???

Ticket numbers are negotiated by the conferences. SEC didn't want to be on the hook for extra tickets.

Interesting fact:
It is a shorter distance between the west tip of Texas and the Pacific Ocean than it is between the west tip of Texas and its east tip.
