re: With the tweet after the UF game, CTE or depression seems more plausible than weed.

You can do scans of the brain and see signs of CTE.
And f*ck you for saying a lot of irresponsible claims being thrown around. That’s a highly irresponsible claim considering you’re basically shaming people for saying CTE fricks people up and can do so from an early age. You don’t know shite
I own two CBD companies and worked with Dr. Bennet Omalu and the Mary Seau Foundation. CTE is real, we obviously know enough to diagnose it after death and are becoming more aware to see early signs of it.

Plain and simple, you're wrong.

What were his suspensions for earlier in the season?

CTE is a very real thing, but you don't see it in 20 year olds. Usually it's seen in older players, after many, many years of football. Not saying it can't happen earlier, but I haven't heard of it anywhere.
It's typically much older guys who've played pro ball for 10-15 years.

quote:sure, but is it caused by CTE? More likely clinical depression, unrelated to any brain trauma.
There's plenty examples of suicidal young players - revealed in retrospect via autopsy.
Look, CTE is real, but I'm not at all convinced we see it in 20 year old kids. It's usually much older players who've played the game with very big, fast, and powerful adults for a decade or more.

quote:yes, but there's not nearly as much violent contact in grade school. I'd guess it's the 10-15 years of playing with grown men that's the bulk of the cause.
I think sometimes we forget that most start playing football in grade school. Over 10-15 years on his body already

Prove me wrong

Just for future reference, the burden of proof is on the person making the unsubstantiated claims. You owning CBD companies (not really sure what that has to do with it), and claiming that you've worked with Dr. Omalu proves absolutely nothing. You could be my 12 year old niece for all I know.
But I decided to do a basic google search. This is from April of 2019.
Boston University School of Medicine
This article talks about a possible new brain scan that can diagnose CTE in the living to reveal abnormal tau protein.
The first sentence.
It says it right there. But if you keep reading.....
That says nothing that backs up your claim. That sounds like they are working toward being able to diagnose the living, but it is NOT there yet. Similar patterns does not equal evidence of the disease being present.
Also, the NFL players in this study were self reporting. It's not like they took a random group of former players, they only looked at the brains of those who were reporting symptoms of mood disorders or behavioral abnormalities.
Every other thing I come across about CTE in the living links to that same individual study. But please, if you have anything further I'd love for you to back up your claims.
For the record, I'm not disagreeing that football causes CTE. I think it pretty clearly can cause CTE, but again, it's irresponsible to call for the death of the sport when we don't know what ALL causes CTE. We have a very good idea, but we don't know for certain yet. And knowing for certain is EXTREMELY important.

For the time being, the only way for scientists to detect whether a person has CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is to examine their brain tissue after death.
It says it right there. But if you keep reading.....
quote:
Their findings reveal that an experimental PET (positron emission tomography) scan on living people is able to detect abnormal brain tissue—called tau protein—in patterns similar to those found in the brains of deceased people diagnosed with CTE after death.

“It can’t yet be used for individual diagnosis,” Stern cautions. “We analyzed group data, not individual findings.”
