re: Wow, is this what happens to the rant without football?

The important things in basketball happen a lot slower than the important things in football, imo. If you don't appreciate good basketball by the time you learn how to type (and you are not a woman), you likely never will.

When the team is good, the fans pack the PMAC.

I can get it for baseball, but basketball? Am I missing something?
Yeah, unlike college baseball, basketball gets games on National TV, has its own sections on ESPN.com, has been featured on the Sports Illustrated cover, and is in general recognized by fans across the entire country. Oh, and it is actually basketball season.

To each his own. I simply prefer games with drives, and plays, and segmented action. Basketball just doesn't catch my attention the way football, and to a lesser extent, baseball, do. And I came on the rant expecting football talk and saw 3 pages of bball. I was taken aback, that's all. It amazed me to see how quickly the focus shifted. I didn't even realize basketball had started

wait, college baseball fits that bill?

That is sad considering it is infinitely more popular than college baseball in the country

I find it very refreshing to see the rant talk about something other than the BCS game.

It is segmented enough that I can relax and enjoy the game. Baseball I watch Far more leisurely, and nowhere near as fervently. But I can go for a beer and not miss 20 points going up on the board.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Playing basketball when I was younger, but as a spectator sport it never really held my interest. Maybe I need to watch it with the right people
I wasn't attempting to knock LSU basketball in this thread, it just shocked me how quick the focus switched, that's all.

I've been too busy at work to pay attention to much outside of LSU football. And I don't watch TV

Help me understand it maybe?
Great athleticism, different skill sets from different players, strategy, intensity, exciting pace, etc. What's not to like? It's a great game.

So basically, you're a football fan only. Your loss.

Basketball is an incredible game if you get into it. It's the perfect balance of individual talent and teamwork.

It's bowl season. Hunting season, Christmas season, turnaround season. The only time I tune in to an actual TV channel is to watch football. Y'alls passion is making me rethink watching basketball. How many games are there? Maybe if we have a good season I'll be able to get into it?

Maybe I'm just missing that when I see a game on. I just see a bunch of guys running and passing and shooting. Been soooo long since I played a real game, and they were never structured. More chaotic. Made it fun to play, but I imagine very confusing to watch.
It's struck me as too fast paced for my palate.

1 out of 4 people is a basketball fan.
a lot of people actually love the game.
there is little brutality and a lot of athleticism and team play.

Nothing about basketball.

Where did I fault them for it? I was just surprised since I haven't seen LSU mentioned as a bball powerhouse in a long while.

I like a little brutality. Isn't there athleticism (or is that some code word) and team play in every team sport?
