why cant LSU win the natl championship cause i believe they can.
They can definitely do it, but the odds are against every team to do it every year, that's why I think the chances of them winning it are low. Another way to look at it, is I give them as good a chance as anyone else to win it.

Yup. Skip's line was always that you need "good baseball fortune". Once you get to Omaha, everybody's good and some of the pitchers are outstanding. Look at the SEC tourney this year. LSU was clearly better than Vandy, but if the opposing pitcher is on his game, like Minor was in game 1, you can still end up in the loser's bracket.
That said, LSU is actually one of those teams with scary pitching this year. With the way that it's set up in Omaha, if you stay in the winner's bracket you can go a long way with just 2 strong starting pitchers and a good closer.

Baseball is such a fickle sport. If a team is far and beyond better, then one can, with some confidence, evaluate the chances of success. But when you get to Omaha, playing teams like Texas, UC Irvine etc., one swing of the bat can change a games outcome, ask Miami.
So my expectations are always high but guarded. I know the reality, and it wouldn't surprise me if they were up-ended in their first 2 games in Omaha.

Agreed. Even the bracket you pull can be a HUGE advantage to winning the whole thing. I still can't believe Fresno won it all last year. Just think that UNC was the favorite to win it all last year. UNC used up ALOT of their pitching on the tigers last year, which had a huge impact on their success in Omaha. If UNC or LSU had been in the other bracket, maybe it is us who is holding up that trophy and not Fresno.

That's what everyone is saying about us.

quote:Yeah that is "if" they make it. The Super Regionals will not be a cake walk even though they are at home. That is why I said I expect them to make it to the Super Regionals and everything after is extra bases, but that is just my opinion. At times this year, this team has been flat at the plate and flat on the bump. But that is baseball.
they have a tough draw in game 1 if they make it to Omaha

I predicted we'd make a Super Regional before the season. If we get past that then they went beyond my expectations at the beginning of the season. They are definitely capable of making noise and are better than last year. Last year however, before we went on the unbelievable streak we were just a decent baseball team. Regardless of predictions or anything Geaux Tigers!!
