It is painful. I made the same mistake. I did average down, but with an OI of almost 19000 contracts on the $23 UNG puts, it look like put buyers are hanging on, with virtually no volume. This could get ugly as we get closer.
I made my loss back in futures, where I should have stayed given my general advice to stay away from trading ETF and ETN's long term. Look at eh ETF's today. Natty gas is in as close to a free fall as we have seen, and the ETF's are hanging on.
If I closed out my options today, if I could get them closed, I'd lose $5,100.00.

July is almost down a dime, and after hours UNG is still hovering at $24.59.
July goes up .03 tomorrow and UNG will replace half of its loss.
Crazy lesson learned about ETF's that "track" commodity prices in all of this.
Edit - When night trading starts for real, which is to say when the guys getting off of work start to trade futures, I'm going hunting for a dark pool to see if I can unload more UNG puts. I doubt I do, but I have so many fricking puts I need to try.
This one trade has impacted my golf substantially.

I can't wait for this to be over.

seems I have read a few people in this thread saying they had problems with the gas ETFs & ETNs.
Could someone summarize those issues?

Take a look at the day's high on July 23 UNG oputs. Someone made a boo boo. Their mistake, and I'm closer to getting out.

I'm selling puts now. I'll buy them back tomorrow when natty gas goes up a dime again.

Who, wouldn't an exchange reject that?

I can't sell against what I have, but I can sell against DGAZ and BOIL. Also puts on the August contracts.
Check that. I'm trying to short DGAZ. Puts on the others where possible.

I meant the $2.50 buy order on the July 23

I don't know what happened there. I sold 10 23's earlier, and they partial executed 9 and 1. Nothing has been reversed yet.

It's like being an Iowa fan. Get down to $24 damn it all to hell.

August is down over .13, and the etf's are bull shite.

I guess I'm the only one here who is clueless as to what you're attempting to communicate to the board.
