I got back in today with a little DGAZ, put in a trailing % limit and the crazy thing was so volatile, my position closed out in 30 minutes at break even
gonna try again maybe
got back in at 5.55, yeehawww
ETA: never mind
should have followed my old rule, up 10% SELL
ETA: I'm out again...may try again tomorrow

The UNG put play someone mentioned seems to be the trade. Easy money for at least one guy on here. Good job.

Glad to be on the right side of this trade for once.

So where does everyone stand for this week? Also, am I the only one sticking with UGAZ and not switching to puts or DGAZ?

I've got both.
which ever one goes up, I'll sale some of it and use it to buy the other one while it's down. I just keep doing this and it seems to be working.

Futures down 4% on mild 2H January outlook.
I can't see any reason to be long for the foreseeable future.

It's working due to the crazy volatility, and no long term visible trend. That's not much different than just waiting till one drops then buying and selling later when it rebounds, which is what many in this thread have been doing. I'm not saying you're strategy won't continue to work, just be aware that once this volatility ceases, and the bulls or bears finally win out, you'll be left holding a sinking ship, not much different than what has happened to many of us here.

Can anyone here give me a layman's explanation of contango as it relates to oil and nat gas and its implications?
Posted on 1/19/15 at 4:27 pm to southernelite
I don't bet on weather. Long term, nat gas will go up.
Short term? It's a coin flip.
But I recall someone in this thread predicted $4.00 nat gas by the end of this month.

Long term
is UGAZ safe to hold long term?
it won't depreciate/erode/decay/whatever the term is for leveraged equities losing value over time?
