Sometimes I forget that everyone on the OT has a $300k, 2800 sqft home and makes above $250k a year.
You can by all kinds of "liveable" homes for $150. Easy.

This is the Money board, not the OT. And yes a respectable home would be hard to find in BR for $150K.

I have a Realtor who sends me MLS updates on the $125-175 range. Very few come back as a reasonable purchase in a safe neighborhood.

Roger, we have alot in common(we both make about the same and our significant others are in the medical field). I'm closing on a home in Jacksonville in 3 weeks. I got the seller to knock the price down which was originally $165,000 to $150,000 with 3% closing. I'm putting 15 grand down with an interest rate of 5%. I don't have to pay PMI because i'm going through the VA. With that said, my monthly payments will be around $1150. The thing that hurts is that i'm paying almost $400 on taxes and insurance every month...well atleast until the end of the year. Anyway, goodluck finding your first home.
