Not sure you have to give them the benefit of the doubt when you have the Kochs and the federal government pushing for this to happen. Gotta think some palms are getting greased.
After 900 pages, it seems the business plan is to kick the can down the road. Maybe Lithium extraction is actually secondary to the direction and distribution of the government grant money.

Can't really move forward without it, especially with both sides seemingly so far apart.

Not negotiating with the landowners though. They are negotiating with the AOGC.
Honestly, the large variance probably helps because it will get laughed out of the room. Lansess has been paying a brine fee 4x less than than the royalty being offered. There is no way 17% is feasible. No one can make money on that.
According big players, the 2.5% + the brine fee bringing it to 3% is "industry leading." I like our odds.
If they were coming in asking for 5% I may be worried.
I think it happens.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't.

If they do that, (5%), I want Texas to issue a 2.5-3% notice to stick it to the fuggers that have dillydallied since covid.

According to Standard’s management about a year ago, Texas won’t be setting a lithium royalty like Arkansas. It’ll just be between the two parties in each lease.
I feel good about the Arkansas royalty odds since an AOGC commissioner or two are the ones who pitched 2.5% at a previous hearing. I remember that, it was at the end of a long hearing day

KTPS
Local college preparing a workforce for southwest Arkansas lithium projects.
If this project even looks like it will achieve phase 1 (ie the royalty decision) I think it rockets and doesn't look back. A lot of big money out there left to invest.

SAU helps prepare workforce for $1.5 billion lithium project
Johnette Magner
MAGNOLIA, Ark. - As Southwest Arkansas prepares to become a major player in the global lithium market, regional universities are stepping up to ensure the local workforce is ready for the opportunity.
Southern Arkansas University (SAU), based in Magnolia, is collaborating with community partners to identify the skills and training needed for jobs tied to a $1.5 billion Standard Lithium facility under development in nearby Lewisville. The project is expected to help meet up to 15 percent of global lithium demand.
SAU President Dr. Bruno Hicks said the university is focused on equipping students and workers for a range of roles.
“I don’t know if I can say exactly what number they were talking about at the new Standard Lithium,” Hicks said. “It could be upwards of 100 plus jobs, but they wouldn’t be all engineers. They’d be plant workers as well.

How is there a 947 page thread on a stock going for under $2? Do I need to drop some change?

That was Bruce's actual age at the beginning of this thread.

I've gone gray since my first post.
I'm ready for it to get going to increase the value of my shares and the size of my checks from them.

You planning on running some calls at the same time if/when?

I should. I've never been a big options trader, but I think we go to at least $3.50 after the royalties are set. I feel like the political pressure is too high to not get in done and a rate more favorable to SLI than some may like. As I've pointed out to many involved, they will be hurting a lot of people if they kill this project.
So probably yes.

I sold a quarter of my position awhile back and think I’d rather go with some calls. Out right now but I’ll see what’s available this evening.
