Try this website, they might have a Grand Cane group by now but, if not, you can look at offers from areas close to Grand Cane.
gohaynesvilleshale.com
I found out a great deal from other landowners on this site, they are more than happy to help.

K-Jon acres was offered $10,000 per acre 2 weeks ago. The last I checked, the landowners had passed the offer up.

Thanks. We have property in the Ranchland Acres Subdivision north of Grand cane

There is also a Burford near Gloster that received a little over $10,000 per acre for a little over 100 acres. He leased about 3 weeks ago.

Hope that's not Richard Burford, our new legislator, who just voted for that raise he needed so badly :)

Chesapeake has a full page add in the Timpson Tx paper wanting to lease land out this way. I live in in southern rusk county and they've been leasing this area up for two years now. The add states, "We're the company you can trust to drill the best Haynesville Shale wells on your land." It seems that Chesapeake believes the HS is massive lol.

Coach,
What's your Township and Range. My company is buying leases and minerals in Red River and might be interested in making an offer.

Our land is in Section 23 Township 14N Range 9W

What's the proper nomenclature to enter that data into this page:
SonrisLite
I have the info for our land but can't figure out how to input it properly to get the well information back.

I'm assuming you are looking up Wells by S/T/R on Sonris Lite:
Township is always XXN or XXS. For Township 15 North type in 15N.
Range is always XXW or XXE. For Range 14 West type in 14W.
Section is always just the number. Or leave it blank to return all the sections in a given Township/Range.
Hope that helps. You can also search for wells by parish, operator, etc. Lots of tools on that site. Sonris, and the online access to Conservation Department data is one of the few things LA does better than other states.

Once you enter your section, township and range, and you know you entered it correctly, if no well info comes back, then no well has ever been permitted or drilled. To double-check, enter a section that you know has been drilled and you can see that well info.

Can you give me a section that we know has been drilled just so I can see what that screen looks like?

Actually, I got it to work. Now how can you tell what's Cotton Valley and what's Haynesville?

Sounds like a question for Tigerdog!! How do we summon thee?

Sometimes it will say under "Sand." If it's been unitized with fieldwide units, sometimes, you can tell by the nomenclature... the well name. CV RA Smith #1 or whatever. That would be Cotton Valley Reservoir A Smith #1.

justbill, insomniacula, tigerdog83 ... a gajillion thanks. I've been trying to figure that out, too. Don't have much, but don't want to be taken advantage of in this play. To think, there are some in this country that think we in LA aren't well educated or wouldn't know how to handle our affairs in this matter!

No matter which state you're in, there will always be stupid people!

Yeah, so aren't you glad you can now access this expertise and knowldege from WA? My point was that we have extremely well educated expertise here, just not necessarily the kind measured by "high stakes testing" or norm referenced tests.

Excellent thread.
I'm curious. My mother, my three brothers and I have 30 acres in Sect. 16 (section never drilled) just about a mile south of Stanley in DeSoto Parish. We leased (unfortunately, I guess) last year for around $400 and a 1/5 royalty. Oh well, that's water under the bridge. We gave all the lease payments to Mom anyway.
Is this likely good territory in the HS?
Sorry, I'm not completely familiar with how to post yet on this board--this is for anyone knowledgeable.

I'm not sure I follow you. I certainly expect an "energy state" like Louisiana to be in possession of a great deal of knowledge and talent in that area. Who do you think doesn't?

I'm sure it would be appreciated if this were taken to a new topic and leave this one to discussions about the shale.
