Not upping my postings here, I just speak up when there might be something relevant.
Have you looked at the link posted by bazeball about 3 pages back? I've seen 2 other letters like this for S. Caddo & S. Bossier. Yeah, there's increased interest.

justbill - You sound like everyone's gotten on your last good nerve, and probably understandably. Sounds like you need to take a day off and go fishing.
Personally, I know I probably won't get rich, don't have enough property. Some of us are just trying to make sure we don't take care of business so property transfers in the future aren't bogged down. I'm sitting in an urban neighborhood with about 7 houses on the market that aren't moving, people want to know about the mineral rights.
For what it's worth, I've appreciated what you've had to say. Keep on posting.

bazeball, thanks for the link to LA RS 30:10. I believe it contains some of the information I asked about previously. I'm not sure how it's interpreted, but I'll be able to show it to my lawyer as I try to sort all this out.

Thanks, everyone. At one meeting I attended, a comment was made that if a land/mineral owner goes unsigned, a company can come back & sue them later for production costs. Is this true, under what circumstances & how probable would it be?

Thanks, was that for the So. Hills area?
Animallover, is JDP the same as the JPD Energy? Also, anyone know who Burgundy Oaks leased with?

Letter didn't say. Just says they've established an oil & gas leasing program, presenting an opportunity to have home lot pooled. My thought was that it's a middleman transaction, or someone who will resell the leases for a higher bonus & %.

JPD's contact # is 318.222.2856 or 318.425.0424, their address is 400 Travis, Ste. 1811.
My parents are in So. Hills, JPD's letter offered $1,000 bonus per home lot, 1/5 (20%)royalty, and 3yr., 2yr option lease. That letter was dated June 13.
They were also sent another letter by Fleet dated June 24. It offered $5,500 bonus/acre, 20% royalty, 3yr./2 yr option lease.
I've attended some a group meeting with my parents because they're older and I need to stay in the loop regarding their matters. The neighborhood is organizing quickly & efficiently. Haven't heard anything about the $ amount you mention.

I'm sure it would be appreciated if this were taken to a new topic and leave this one to discussions about the shale.

Yeah, so aren't you glad you can now access this expertise and knowldege from WA? My point was that we have extremely well educated expertise here, just not necessarily the kind measured by "high stakes testing" or norm referenced tests.

justbill, insomniacula, tigerdog83 ... a gajillion thanks. I've been trying to figure that out, too. Don't have much, but don't want to be taken advantage of in this play. To think, there are some in this country that think we in LA aren't well educated or wouldn't know how to handle our affairs in this matter!

Anyone got any opinion about the article in today's S'port times re. the large group of neighborhoods organizing? Is it advisable to get in with such a large group, better to stick with smaller neighborhood, or negotiate individually. I'm at 17N, 13W, 33&34. It's in a bunch of townhome neighborhoods down here.
