Letter didn't say. Just says they've established an oil & gas leasing program, presenting an opportunity to have home lot pooled. My thought was that it's a middleman transaction, or someone who will resell the leases for a higher bonus & %.

Of the leases we did with JPD, Empressa ended up drilling one unit, Camterra another. Don't know if the Camterra one went thru Empressa first.

Thanks, was that for the So. Hills area?
Animallover, is JDP the same as the JPD Energy? Also, anyone know who Burgundy Oaks leased with?

I looked at the records and I believe that Caruthers, Empressa and JPD Energy assigned their leases in those sections to Camterra and then Camterra unitized the areas and drilled the wells.

yes. I just talked to someone who lives on Bert Kouns and JPD offered them $12500, but I talked to another homeowner on Thurs. who lives on Bert Kouns and they got $13500 offer

Thanks, everyone. At one meeting I attended, a comment was made that if a land/mineral owner goes unsigned, a company can come back & sue them later for production costs. Is this true, under what circumstances & how probable would it be?

I have to wonder why are these companis leasing up every acreage in at least 5 parishes in LA. this is not to mention counties in TX. Surley there won't be a well in every unit. I do not understand very much about leasing and the gas business, but that sure is alot of money. Are these companies just trying to be sure they have the lease in case the shale is actually larger that they think? There is going to be alot of disappointed people who don't get a well. Do you really think there will be that many wells five years from now?

IM NOT ALL THAT SURE IN THE MANY AREA IF ALOT OF LEASING IS GOING ON BUT JUST TO THE NORTH AT BELMONT, ZWOLLE AND PLEASANT HILL BIG MONEY $12,500/ACRE.I DID HEAR OF A $500 OFFER ON HWY 6 WEST.

WHATS GOING ON IN CONVERSE? ANY RIGS MOVING IN ?
CONVERSE, PLEASANT HILL AND ALOT OF OTHER SMALL TOWNS COULD REALY BENEFIT FROM THIS IF THE LOCAL GOVERMENTS WOULD SHAPE UP AND REALIZE THE POTENTIAL.

I have two pieces of property in DeSoto Parish. The first is in the Bethany/Longstreet area (3 1/2 acres). My section has two producing gas wells now and a third well was completed May 23, 2008. A location has been built for a fourth well.
The second location is south of Mansfield (20 acres) and has one producing well in this section.
I have been contacted by three different companies about buying my mineral rights but only one one has made an offer of $4000 per acre.
I consider this offer very low considering what people have been getting to lease.
Any advise on how to figure the value of the mineral rights is appreciated.

without digging through all this...are there a couple of websites that have legit info on them that anyone can link? I have a relative that has 100 acres near Elm Grove. It's had a couple of existing gas wells for a number of years, presumably shallower, but drilling is starting on a new well. Not sure what his current lease looks like, I'm trying to get it from him, but he tends to make poor decisions and would probably just let it rollover without doing any investigation.
Thanks
Thanks

Hello ForeLSU, It sounds like it may be held by production with the existing wells on the place.Elm Grove Area is the newest super hotspot after PH drilled EGP #63 @ 16.8 MMCF per day.You can check out gohaynesvilleshale.com and ask questions over there. The crowd is not as informed ,for the most part ,as these guy's but there aren't as many a'holes over there either! OOOOPPPPSSSSS! I better go , I've got way less then 25 posts and I wouldn't want to upset the Tigerdropping godfathers of this site !

they are boring this place with their questions about minute acreage in random places. people are coming to tigerdroppings.com to see if their land is ripe for drilling. may want to figure that out on something a little more official, it is starting to get late in the game.

thanks, I'll check it out. I need to get his current agreements and get them in the hands of an attorney with some familiarity to find out where opportunities or vulnerabilities might lie.
I haven't been following this very closely but was over there this weekend. We all thought this guy had a couple of acres with a well on it, not 100. Even if it is tied up under a production agreement, I would think this potentially has implications on his property value, estate, etc. Like I said though, he has a bad history of listening to the wrong people when it comes to advice...

I last time I looked, this particular blog page topic was "Haynesville Shale". There are a lot of absentee landowners who are searching for any bit of information they can to try and help themselves and others. The least thing you can do if you do not wish to help is be gracious about it instead of insulting us. If you do not wish to have to read our "boring" posts, then go to another page and reply to other topics. You are very insulting with your holier than thy attitude.
AND, not all of us have just 1 acre.
