Please interpret. Messenger well is at 14,100 feet. Have they gone horizontal yet? What does logging mean?
Please teach us the basics of how to read there and what it menas. Thanks

it is my understanding now that they will doing the electrical logs now to see what is there and then decide to stop, go HZ or plug...is this accurate? I mean they are at TD now...

What Chesapeake has done is drill a test well vertical, log it, flow, and then drill a separate well and go horizontal.

The logging usually is done once the measured depth is reached on a horizontal well. Then the fracing process is begun.

It is Encana drilling that well. They've drilled some pretty nice wells into the Haynesville in Red River Parish.

This is just a general question for the HS. How in the heck are they (Chesapeake, Petrohawke, etc.) going to get enough wells drilled fast that all these big leases they've paid don't expire? I'm guessing it takes a long time to drill a million or so acres. Are they just counting on having to release some of these properties they've already dropped 15-25K on?

this was posted on the go hayensville site concerning the messenger well

Am told that they will produce this one verticle, not horizontal as rumors have had it. They are supposed to frac this soon after logging the well. Told by someone supposedly close to EnCana that they will be permitting the other 7 units that are congruent to this well. Driller in Shreveport was willing to bet me that the next well drilled there will be horizontal. This well was never permitted for horizontal, but now they at least know what they have there. Will be interesting to see the production on this well! What a ride this has been! Was told this rig will be broken down and moved first of next week due to drilling needs at another location! Not sure and haven't heard when they will be back here, but the lease records indicate they have plenty of time in this area. Time is going to be a huge factor from here on out as there are not near enough rigs to handle the drilling being requested by the mineral owners!

Just curious, but as a big "play" investor, and an oil company consultant (from older post), do you really think an LSU messageboard is the best place to get that information?

There is a phone number, if you're not too busy, give them a call...

Probably be easier to just fly into one of the Shreveport airports.

Get a limo to drive you down there.
