Is it though? The S&P (at the moment) is at April 2021 or so levels. That's after a decade long bull run. If they were relying on that delta that seems suspect.

Exactly. Any retiree who is fricked by this market never had enough to retire in the first place.

It’s sickening to think about those a little closer to retirement.

Is it though? This is actually the perfect stress test for a retirement portfolio. If someone can sustain this, then they can retire with even more confidence. Those that enter retirement now should have some nice returns in the first decade of their retirement so it should only accelerate their position.

I get that this is contrarian.

I’m up ytd but solely because of my long puts, short puts, and short calls. Every single straight long position I have besides OBE is down ytd. Also I bought some upst at 120, that hurt

Took everything out of the market Jan

Was it all in retirement accounts? If not, how much of a tax hit did you take selling all in Jan? Do you account for that in your returns?

I'm retiring tomorrow. It's a little unsettling but I'm really not worried. I knew my networth was inflated and there would be a market correction eventually but I've been thinking that for years. Just kept steadily investing. Glad I didn't try to time it or I would have lost out on a lot of growth.
