I'm not home now but I'll look at it as soon as I get there.

@LSURussian....What am I missing???
I wanted to post an update but my %YTD returns have not changed for any of the stocks since you posted the results as of 3/1/2018.
Is this a Morningstar issue and you're seeing the same thing, or am I doing something stupid on my end?
FOLLOW-UP....
I sent an email to Morningstar support on this issue, just got a reply that this is a known issue which has already been escalated to their product team.

Thanks, Moots, for following up on Morningstar's issue.
I may not be home for awhile and the spreadsheets I use for our contest are on my PC so I'm stuck with just my iPad to post.
Thanks again.

Where would I access the same tool you are using on Morningstar? I’m assuming you log into an account to use it?

Yes, but it’s available via the free account...Select the “Your Portfolio”section. I built a watchlist containing all the stocks in our contest. Within there you can customize your view, %YTD return is one of the column headings you can select.

Moots, I'm home now and I see what you're talking about. The YTD figures are still the same as the ones I posted on 3/1.
I sure hope Morningstar gets their act together because I'm not going to track the numbers manually.
But I will search and see if there's another investment returns website that gives YTD performance numbers that we can download automatically into an Excel spreadsheet.
To all other players in our contest, please feel free to look for a website we can use for our contest's numbers.

Exactly what I was thinking! LOL!
I was hopeful it would be a quick fix by Morningstar, but it looks like it’s dragging on. :-/
I’ll also see if I can find an alternative.

So did you use the tool where you input securities and then have to enter the purchase price? Or is there another tool that just assumes Jan 2nd starting points?

I swear I’m not technologically incompetent. With that said; where is this tool in MS?

Go to www.morningstar.com...signup for a free account and sign in...
Go to the "Your Portfolio" section and Create a watch list
Use the "Customize view" option to add the fields you want to be displayed, such as %YTD return.

Thanks so much, Moots. This helps me manage some biz processes I needed to simplify.

Moots, I tried several things in hopes of getting the YTD numbers to update.
I signed out and signed back in, I updated my profile, I removed the YTD field from my customized view and then added it back, I added several other data points to my customized view including the previous trading day's results for each stock and nothing has worked to get an updated YTD number.
The previous day's trading results were accurate so they are correctly tracking each stock's daily performance but it's not changing the YTD figure.
Have you heard back from Morningstar since they told you that it's a known problem?
ETA: I also created a sample watch list on Bloomberg, CNBC, Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch, USAToday, Vanguard and Fidelity but none of those websites track the YTD performance of a stock. At least I couldn't find how to modify their standard watch list format to include a YTD number.

I think you could've done it with the old Google Finance's portfolios, but they got rid of that for whatever reason.
I have a solution that may work for anyone with the thinkorswim trading platform and Excel. With thinkorswim open, the formula =RTD("tos.rtd",,"LAST",B2) in Excel will return the last price of whatever symbol is in cell B2. Unless someone already has that data, I'll try to also find formulas for the year's starting price and dividend payments to accurately determine YTD results.

Unfortunately, no further word back from MorningStar as of yet.
But I had some time to kill and decided to do a manual update of the numbers since we've been a while without.
The top 3 remain unchanged, but we do have a new number 1 since the 3/1 update.
*Disclaimer: For whatever reason, MorningStar wouldn't display SSC's YTD number where I was pulling all the rest...So I had to pull it's %YTD elsewhere and I'm not sure the -64.43 number is up to date.
As of the end of trading 3/9/2018

Since we are having so much trouble with morningstar, I think we should just start over. No need to really look at anyone performance to date. Let’s just move along.
