I took Kendall, I found her well engaged and responsive. Adequate interaction to do well in quizzes and the class. Final grade, A.

How is the course set up? I'm wondering how manageable it is and how much time is required weekly. I have read mixed reviews and have been trying to figure out who to take between Si Chen or Minseong Kim.

the setup for MKT701 Si Chen is 250 word discussion post every week, and alternative weeks of 5 page (double spaced) case studies and exams. From a combination of me having school fatigue (this is my 2nd to last class to complete), zero interest in this class material, and so many real life stuff occupying me at this time, I been giving this class MINIMUM time and effort and Im Acing it so far.
Definitely a course that can be doubled up on.

WOW, it makes me feel so much better to know this information. I have read horror stories surrounding the course and how much of a time commitment it is. I almost felt as though I could not do it, on top of working 60 hour weeks, family commitments and life stuff as well.
Congratulations on almost finishing out the program! I actually just started, so I have a ways to go.
Any recommendations on other professors for the program? Manageable workload and can be paired with other courses? I would appreciate any insight. Thanks so much!

I just noticed Chen posted the test scores for exam 1, and many people didnt do nearly as good as I assumed. I crammed for the test completely cold in like 1.5 hours and got a 24/25 score. Nothing analytical at all just asking stuff thats in the slides she posted or a few text snippets that she says to look over in her lecture video.
But anywho if you have a half decent brain you should be able to sleepwalk to an A.

Based on the picture in this article, it is clear that it says Louisiana State University Shreveport.

That's pretty much the same for the Pac12 schools I attended. Shame on LSU!

I won’t justify this non-sense with a response.
This is a classic case of someone believing what they wish was true.

If you are looking for a program where you can slide by, the LSUS MBA Program is not the program for you. While LSUS is probably not the most intensive program in the world, it requires significant time, focus, and commitment.
Specifically regarding tests, almost every test or quiz I have taken has been through Proctor U and is monitored in real time via webcam. I have used Proctor U for over 50 exams/quizzes at this point (80% complete with MBA) and have not had any significant issues with Proctor U. It's fairly easy to use. Almost all exams will require you to study. Some exams are difficult, others are seemingly easy.
If you think you can log in on the computer once a week for 10 months and walk away with an MBA for $13k, you're mistaken.
Hello everyone! I’m considering enrolling into LSUS for my online MBA in Project management.
Can someone please explain to me how the exams were? Were they all proctored and difficult to pass? Just concerned about the exams more than anything tbh
Thanks!

So glad you posted this. As a proud Alum I want this program to be rigorous and challenging. We want our LSUS MBA degree to mean something and be respected. Programs that are considered "easy" are also considered diploma mills and lose all respect. There's a reason LSUS maintains the AACSB accreditation.

Chen must have changed the Mkt 701 class format in Spring Ap 1 2021 compared to previous terms. Class doesn't come close to measuring up to the great reviews on Facebook or in this forum's professor review excel spreadsheet. You have to work hard for an A even a B in this class. Most cohorts were stressed to keep a C. Fortunately, I kept an A, but it was by no means a walk in the park. 10-15 hours a week required. Chen and ACs also created a stressful learning environment. The guidance on the case and discussions questions were vague so you were always guessing on what was expected. Discussions and cases were graded harshly. Not to mention, cases and course materials were dated. For example, you only used a 43-page case study from 2006 for background info and then had to research to find what current marketing issues were. Only then to put in a format Chen provided that did not work and resulted in repetitive info. Exams were tricky...changed one word to make it incorrect or only included half of the statement that was true or false. On the last exam, Chen stated in her video that you didn't need to memorize one slide and then tested on it! Chen was condescending in her emails to the class as well. She even watched ProcturU videos and accused the class of "academic integrity concerns". In other words, she emailed cohorts and accused them of cheating. I do not recommend taking Chen going forward. It was an exercise of memorization and not learning. It was by far my worse experience in the program.

I limped out with an A also but would still pick her over Khan. I'm not sure where people come up with 3-4 hours a week
. I decided to cut my 2nd case down to 6 pages, and my AC showed me otherwise.
Kungu is my last class and I'm done. Does he use PowerPoint presentations, or do you have to read the chapters for his exams?

I just finished AP1 MKT 701 Si Chen with a B and I think it was my worst experience so far. I am 2 classes away from finishing my MBA and I survived Dr. Hsieh FIN 710 and FIN 720. I don't mind working hard to earn my grade, but it was a horrible experience. You live in 2021 but you have to think and wright prior to Corvid. My cohort AC was the worst part of the experience. If you register for this class and AC lives on an Island just run and run and run. If you stay in the class you have to read her sarcastic feedbacks and gotcha comments every week and get points deducted for silly stuff. I did not learn anything and worked over 30 hours a week on this class. Horrible, horrible horrible experience.

well I put as little time/effort in Chen's course as possible (3ish hours total on exam weeks and 5ish hours on case study weeks) and I still got an A. I admit the last exam was unnecessarily nitpicky but come on its all basic memorization of stuff contained within the lecture slides. I got a 22/25 on it but I couldnt be bothered to do more than the bare minimum of studying needed to maintain my A (which was one pass thru of the lecture videos and another read over of the power point slides... 2 hours of studying total).
I hated the case studies as it was a chore to fill up 5 pages of BS on those lame prompts but from just following the case study template/rubric and trying to inject some of course concepts into my paper was enough to get a 90% average on those.
Plus she threw in extra credit to curve the class at the end.

I just finished his class. You read 2 chapters per week. There were no notes, but someone I knew gave me slides from Heller's class that were great to read over after reading the chapters. One discussion post (500 words) every week. Every other week, there is a paper due as well.
The book doesn't read very well in my opinion, but the class is pretty easy if you stay on top of the readings.
