Chen must have changed the Mkt 701 class format in Spring Ap 1 2021 compared to previous terms. Class doesn't come close to measuring up to the great reviews on Facebook or in this forum's professor review excel spreadsheet. You have to work hard for an A even a B in this class. Most cohorts were stressed to keep a C. Fortunately, I kept an A, but it was by no means a walk in the park. 10-15 hours a week required. Chen and ACs also created a stressful learning environment. The guidance on the case and discussions questions were vague so you were always guessing on what was expected. Discussions and cases were graded harshly. Not to mention, cases and course materials were dated. For example, you only used a 43-page case study from 2006 for background info and then had to research to find what current marketing issues were. Only then to put in a format Chen provided that did not work and resulted in repetitive info. Exams were tricky...changed one word to make it incorrect or only included half of the statement that was true or false. On the last exam, Chen stated in her video that you didn't need to memorize one slide and then tested on it! Chen was condescending in her emails to the class as well. She even watched ProcturU videos and accused the class of "academic integrity concerns". In other words, she emailed cohorts and accused them of cheating. I do not recommend taking Chen going forward. It was an exercise of memorization and not learning. It was by far my worse experience in the program.

Yes, read the chapters. He throws a question in from the readings every now and then that is not in the PowerPoints.

I just finished Heller's MADM 701 class last term and test were closed book. I did see some past posts referring to open-book tests, but that is not the case now. Just study the PowerPoints and you will ace the tests. Also, use the Quizlet website and search Heller MADM 701 to access the flashcards--they are basically word for word with the slides but it helps to recall the info when reviewing for the test. Lastly, be sure to watch the Ted-Talk videos as they are on the test. He has at least 2 to 4 questions on each test around those. Hope this helps.

Hello Everyone,

Just finishing up my first term. I'm taking Meeks class for AP2 so good to hear all the positive comments on his class. For AP1, I'm taking MADM 730 with Menon. Does anyone have any feedback on this class? Could I double up with Econ 705? Thanks for any information.
