I believe that the credential is the most important thing, not the school from you which you earned the degree.
Having an MBA, even if its from UNO/SLU, is better than not having an MBA at all. I can buy that. But a very close 2nd in importance is where you got the degree from. It would be bad advice to tell someone to get an MBA from anywhere because having the degree is most important. If one makes the commitment to get an MBA, go to the best school possible.

The only exception is that FIRST job
The 2nd job is dependent upon that first job. The same for every subsequent job. If the degree helps you get a position you wouldn't have landed otherwise, then your entire career is impacted.
The point has been made that a school can't get you a job. The argument is John went to Wharton but has the same job as Tim from Tulane. Therefore Tulane must equal Wharton. The truth is John does not equal Tim. Even though they both landed at the same job, John likely maximized his potential by going to Wharton while Tim did not maximize his potential at Tulane. It is a personal decision, so go to the school that will most maximize your potential.

MBA from LSU. Did the full time program with no work experience and a non-business undergrad. I was the definition of someone who should have not gotten an MBA at the time. Timing and luck had me interviewing for the perfect position for someone with my background. I would have not gotten that position without my MBA and for that, I am very grateful. I am also extremely lucky.

Master of Science in Accounting from LSU...which turned out to be the best decision I have ever made.
Passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam the first time...

Not even remotely the same as an MBA.

I did the executive MBA program at UNO & it was a joke. The undergraduate program at the school i attended for undergrad is more challenging. The admission criteria was essentially non-existant and the goal was simply to fill the class because the it was the most profitable program offered at the school.
I felt I needed an MBA becuase my job intersects with finance and accounting and I was a liberal arts major. I graduated with a 3.7 average and I honestly could not intrepret a balance sheet when i left. The only positive thing i can say is that i did develop some strong personal relationships with my classmates and it has turned into some referal business over the years.

Undergrad & MBA from UNO (Pre-K).
CPA a few years later.
Don't plan on leaving NOLA area. I don't ever worry about if going somewhere else for grad school would have been better. Bottom line is that passing CPA exam was more important to my career, but MBA was just more of a personal goal of mine.

I agree, not nearly as overpriced.

If you have an undergrad in accounting its just as egregious.

The MS is an irrelevent degree that serves only the purpose of qualifying for the 150 hours to sit for the CPA. I have nothing against the MS, but it really is only one-dimensional. No one cares that you have an MS, but they will care that you have the CPA.
Someone who has a CPA without a masters degree is on equal playing field as someone who has the CPA with an MS. No one cares how you received your 150 hours; all that matters is the CPA.

I'm in capital medical sales and was lucky enough to have a previous employer pick up the tab for my MBA at the Goizueta Business School at Emory. I didn't go into the program to advance within my company or in hopes of a new job, but to help me to be more successful in my current career. Coming from a purely clinical background, I do believe that the MBA has made a huge difference in my ability to construct a better business case for my product portfolio, especially when selling in the c-suite.
That being said however, if I would have paid the $100k myself, I'm not sure if it would have been a sound investment.

What school did you attend for business school? And for the career switchers, did the degree/school network help you get into the career of choice?
ULM, kinda but not really. Needed it to "check the box" for a masters.
