We need to make this happen one day. I feel like we would form quite the think tank.

Thanks to all for the well wishes, I sincerely appreciate the little niche community we've formed here on TD. Flask and I tried to meet up, but I crashed when I got home and we ended up in different places. I will post some test experience thoughts tomorrow.

Exam Thoughts:

Exam Itself:

1. long day
2. morning session easier than afternoon session
3. I think I succeeded in my strategy, which was to own FRA (accounting) and Ethics, which make up 35% of the test, and be competent enough in the other sections as a whole. Quant and Fixed Income were the sections I was most worried about, and Econ ended up being the one I probably did the worst on.
4. There were probably about 10 questions total where I was just like "lolwtf" and straight up guessed.
5. Finished both sections with about 40m to spare, so time wasn't an issue.
6. I guesstimate I got about an 83% on the morning section and a 66% on the afternoon section, and I think I did fine on ethics, so I feel okay about it; but I feel like I did after taking every section of the CPA, I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if I didn't pass. It's very difficult to gauge your performance on a 240 question, 6 hr test with a black box grading system.
7. Proctors are super-anal. "Please raise your hand and notify us if you need to get a pencil or a tissue out of your pocket during the exam." For serious.

People taking the test:
1. If someone ever makes a visual dictionary, all they need for "dork" is a picture of the testing room. Wow (yes I'm including myself in that, but some of these people put me to shame).
2. There's AZNs, and then there's everybody else. I just thought it was kind of funny, and they're not like Americanized asian kids, they're full on sub-culture asians, hello-kitty and obscure rock band black tee-shirt and crazy spiked hair types.
3. More chicks (maybe one was okay) than I expected.
4. Median age was probably like 23, average was probably like 27, but that was just in my room, I'm not sure if there was multiple L1 testing rooms.

Flask and I were in a room that was about 20% lsu students or recent alums

All i know is that L2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>L1

If you dont know a topic in L2 you have no shot to make a reasonable answer, simply a guess.

I know Flask was enjoying that old fashioned afterward, maybe he hasn't recovered yet?

I would say I am the reverse. I knew I was going to fail it after the morning session, but I went in and beasted the afternoon portion. I would say I'm about 65% confident that I passed. Level 2 was incredibly more difficult than level 1.

Yeah, that grading system is a mental terror, especially when you don't get the results for 2 months. Problem number 2 with level 2 is that there is a much higher quality of "competitors" trying to get into the top 50%, so that's just another variable I don't know how to account for.

Time has never been an issue for me on those tests. If you know the material, there's really no reason to be pressed for time.

It got ugly man. I'm still feeling the pain for sure.

I found L1 to be similar to the CPA exams in that the practice tests I took were much more difficult than the actual test, for the most part. Going into it, I was afraid I was under-prepared, but in hindsight I don't think that was the case (although I could've been "better prepared"). During the afternoon session there was a string of 4-5 quant and then 4-5 econ questions where I started getting exceedingly nervous and had a "frick it I'm failing this shite god dammit" moment. L2 is obviously a whole different can of worms so I'm not trying to make a comparison here.

What did you think was the hardest section of L2? How many people in total was there in your room? I was in 221 fwiw.

It's 3000 pages of material. Unless you have a pentium chip for a brain, there's no way you can be completely prepared. Don't worry about that feeling.

I felt really confident in my ability with equity and a lot of that stuff blind sided me, so I would have to say that, even though I think I did well.

30 or so, I guess.

I think I was in 223.

FTR, don't think either datdude or I are trying to downplay level 1. It's still a beast. Congrats on all your hard work.

The study prep was more work than I anticipated, the test itself was just about what I expected. This is the first week in probably 3 years where I'm not mentally burdened by school or a professional exam.

Kfizz and Flask:

Congrats on getting your respective tests over with...

I've been studying for the Dec. test for ~ 2 weeks (6-11 hrs/week).

Stats sucks

Anyway I'm sure i'll be posting on here occasionally with my rants/complaints/questions. So any advice/"quit bitching/answers are appreciated.

cheers
