Everyone was exuberant when it shot back up to over 315. That's when I noted that Tezos and August 1st would derail Eth's journey to the moon.

I really like my BTC much more around $3k and willing to ride it for the the next 6-8 months.
That said, I'll take this time to diversify into 20-30 alt coins at low levels.

My current understanding and more information may have me adjust this:
Many new tokens (ICO's for new blockchain applications) are only being redeemed in ETH for their offering.
So people that can get in on ICO's and ICO pre-sales have to buy ETH and put it in their coin wallet to wait on the buying window to open. This tends to bid up the price of ETH.
When the sale opens and people start to buy, there can be a rush to sell the accumulated ETH, which drives the prices down.
The bigger the funding on the ICO, the more it will drag ETH up and down.
ETA: ETC & Litecoin are my current favorites. But that will change as the markets unfold.
