Simply false.
You can get an HO6 policy for a couple hundred/year, and have “additions/alterations/improvements” to rebuild properly, protect your personal property, and have liability of $500k.
Not false if you don't have an HO6 policy.

My business partner owns one. I would not advise it.

I don’t want to have to nervously watch the Weather Channel for a week every time tropical storm Barb brews up in the Gulf.
Some friends had one get sanded in. They made waaay too many trips down there to deal with the insurance and repairs.

Just came in from the panhandle today, we rent there 3-4 times a year which is about all the beach time I can stand, and do it for what the annual HOA dues would be if we owned the condo we rent. Being able to enjoy the beach, leave, and not worry about the approaching storm was pretty nice.
