I don't know who will win, but I don't think either one will lose.

If you want to work for a B4 in BR or NOLA, you need to go to LSU or UNO (or Tulane) and do a MACC. Bottom line man.
What's UNO's on-campus recruiting like? And what % of UNO MACC students typically land B4 jobs?

All B4 and local recruit. If you do the Phi Beta stuff and network with the recruiters and generally have acceptable (3.5) grades and at least some personality, you shouldn't have any issues landing at a B4.

Certainly can't hurt Transoceans chances with another goliath like Haliburton lurking on the sidelines/in their corner.

Farmers reported a record planting today! It's safe to say I'm well within the red.
Luckily, they don't expire for another 4.5 mos, so we'll see what happens.

Goldman Sachs’s Connections With Central Banks Reach Ever Deeper LINK ][LINK]
Just read the first paragraph, its impressive to say the least.

The fifth-biggest U.S. bank by assets said yesterday it hired Bank of England economist Andrew Benito after recruiting Huw Pill from the European Central Bank in May and Naohiko Baba from the Bank of Japan in January. Moving in the other direction, Ben Broadbent, Goldman Sachs’s ex-chief U.K. economist, started at the Bank of England last month. Former vice chairman Mario Draghi will take up the presidency of the ECB in November.

The bit about wanting to transform it into a "growth" company pretty much solidifies my belief that they're just sandbagging earnings this quarter taking a bigger than expected loss so they can show big QoQ/YoY growth going forward. Might be good buying opportunity though.
eta: That article sounds pretty dire though. The Tan Man really got them good with CW.

Exclusive: How (And Why) An NBA Team Makes A $7 Million Profit Look Like A $28 Million Loss LINK ][LINK]
Forget the accuracy of the financial analysis, the story itself and the financials are worth reading if you are a sports fan. I tell people this all the time, that owners don't buy teams to make money, they buy teams because they can lose money, but it seems like the vast majority of people are convinced that sports teams themselves make money hand over fist.

What is your advice for attaining a position within advisory as opposed to audit/tax? Would my placement into an advisory group be limited coming from UNO as opposed to a (top) MACC program at a larger university with greater regional employment opportunities (UT, UNC, UVA)?
FYI: As a recent econ grad (minor in accounting) with a decent GPA that didn't acquire a FT job after graduation, I have recently decided that it is in my best interest to get the 150 hours and the prereqs so that I can attain the CPA and increase my chances of landing a FT job next year. Problem is: I've just recently decided to apply to MACC programs for 2011-2012 and am thus unable to apply to most quality MACC programs. I'm debating whether or not to attend a school like UNO or Ole Miss this fall OR wait a year and apply to top MACC programs that will allow for better employment opportunities (Big 4 advisory, corp. finance, management consulting, etc.)
My primary objective is to attain work experience that will allow me to attend/position myself towards a T15 MBA program and my primary concern is that UNO won't get me there.
Thoughts?

Yes. Advisory positions are pretty much non-existent in nola, because they are all small offices. If you want advisory, you need to go somewhere that has bigger offices (houston atl dc dallas etc) recruiting. I do know several people that did that coming from LSU though, which gets plenty of love from Texas and ATL offices. I think that applies to the rest of your question as well.

I like deadspin but it was so much better when Leitch was writing it a few years ago. I just don't think Magary and Daulerio are that funny.
