kfiz, you may know, does the CPA only accept a certain amount of Pass/Fail college classes?
That I do not know, stumped.

This won't go onto your Rhodes GPA, will it?
You are correct. Rhodes will have no knowledge that I even took the courses. The two classes will be on my transcript from LSU.

I just read the NASBA and it just says that pass/fail classes from an accredited 4 year university are acceptable. It doesn't say anything about a limitation on the amount that can be taken.

Thanks. I'm gonna need it.
How's the internship going?

Learning a hell of a lot. Really picking up on tons of valuation/modeling tips that I would have never been exposed to in school. Always great having CFAs and guys that have been doing buy/sell side equity analysis for 20+years in the same office and willing to help in anyway possible.
Spent 7 hours today looking at coal forecast so that part wasn't too wild

I, unfortunately, never did that kind of internship, but I did work with some investment bankers on my project for the CFA and I gained more knowledge from that than I ever have from a class. I can only hope to be on their level one day.

Favorite part of the internship may be getting on various earnings/update calls and thinking I have a great question until some analyst summarizes it in 2-3 words in passing during the q&a session.

At least somebody is making headway.

Yeah. My group worked hundreds of hours on our report and those guys would pick it up, look at it for 45 seconds and ask 5 or 6 questions which would completely stump us. Then they would pull an old report on the company, look at it while they were taking the 15 steps from the printer to their seat and start firing off 7 or 8 of the most important points in the entire report.
It was almost like the whole thing was scripted to make us look silly, but at the end they told us that our report look "really good" and that they "liked our analysis".
I took that to mean it was crap that they would never in a million years put out, but it was respectable for a bunch of public school idiots.

I can only imagine. At the same time, they are working 60 hour+ weeks and dealing specifically with those companies day in and day out. And, they work on those projects for extended amounts of time. I bet they put 250 hours+ in all those reports.
I pretty much feel retarded at work since I have to ask questions on things that appear basic. I've learned a ton so far in only a week and can only imagine I will learn exponentially more as the internship progresses. I've had a few people ask me about my plans after the internship and potentially a full time gig after school....so that has me intrigued.

Actually, they were O&G/Restaurant analysts helping us review Rent-A-Center. That's what made it so impressive.

You doing IB?

No, the one IB position I interviewed for ended up hiring a couple MBAs and a recent Rhodes grad. I may look into it again when graduation time rolls around.
I'm working as a financial analyst for a company based out of Memphis. It was fulfilling sitting in a couple meetings with the directors and the CFO where they were using the reports I made in my first two days working there. Definitely made me appreciate/have pride in/enjoy the work I do more.

Things I won't miss about the CFA books
1- European spelling of words. If I see the word realised one more time, I swear I'm going to kick a midget.

After 5 hours of staring at my bedroom ceiling, I think it's official that my nerves are shot.

I took half of a muscle relaxer last night, which, if I do on anything less than a completely full stomach, completely backfires. It backfired.
My brain was going fricking a bazillion miles a minute from about 11-3 last night, then I woke up. Prob the most restless sleep ever. Good thing is I got enough that I can function today, but not much, so I should be fine tonight.
